I don't think anyone could have provided a more thorough experiment in cleaning these filters! I really appreciated the first video. But this follow-up video really squashes any doubt that the first method really does work the best. Thank you so much for this experiment & documentation; it is extremely helpful, and def needed, as I would rather clean and reuse a filter, than to keep spending money on replacements; as well as filling up our nation's landfill unnecessarily. Excellent job sir!

Nice and thorough experiment, thanks for sharing! I don’t think checking the price of replacing the filter is a good idea though. We should all be making an effort to produce less waste even if it costs us time/money/effort. Love and respect!

I recommend soaking the filters in a solution of caustic soda. DO NOT HEAT because it is dangerous to do so. Handle the solution with care and DO NOT MAKE CONTACT. This method is 100% effective and the remaining liquid can be used as a drain pipe cleaner.

I just tried to another way... baking soda put down your kitchen train followed by distilled vinegar cleans out grease in your pipes... so I sprinkled baking soda, a lot of it all over the filter and then poured vinegar over it, enough to cover it... and it worked pretty good at removing probably 80% of 5+years of build up... I'm now trying it again but heating it on the stove to possibly remove the remainder... put a bit of dish soap in it also...

How about baking soda and detergent simmering at the same time?

Why not try cleaning in oven using it's self clean cycle that's supposed to go extremely high heat to burn off all the carbon or whatever magic it uses, speaking of oven would it be worth it to try oven cleaner solvent or would that stink up the house even worse

How about a brush.

Putting it in the dishwasher then you are gunking up your dishwasher with grease and oil 🤦‍♀️… such a smaller mess to do it in a pan like you did.
