Update 12th sept 2020 - Checkout the community tab, i just added a pic of the screwdriver head needed to open the screws under the Dvd drive... Guys if you are stuck at any step and new to disassembling laptops or pc, Please take the laptop to a professional, as they will be able to help you better, i tried my best to show you how its done, and yes i did use only the tools i showed you'll in the video, and yet i never got stuck at any point coz i have opened laptop and stuff before but never on cam... And the people who think this video is fake, yes my laptop has a button i press it and it disassembles itself...

Tysm dom I tried and cleaned the fan. The sound of latches scared the shit out of me but the work went well and the temperature is drastically reduced. Thanks again Update: Average cpu temperature reduced from 85°+ to below 65°

Sir, your video was very helpful; I was able to clean my hp laptop fan earlier today and it working really well. Days ago it started making a weird sound from the fan and sometimes when I turn on the laptop I get a black screen saying something is wrong with the cooling fan which could lead to farther damage. Thank you! This was the only video I found to open my Pavillion 15-AB293CL. I replaced a failing hard drive with an SSD drive. If that's all you are doing, you can get away with not opening those tricky back latches as the hard drive is held in place by friction brackets and fall right out. All you need to do is unplug the old drive, plug in the new one and put it back together. Thanks again for a great instructional video!

Thanks, Dom, going to try to clean the fan on my 15-ab283nr this weekend. It's probably caked with dust. One tip with the ppl who are having trouble with the CD screws - if you strip the head, try the rubber-band between the screwdriver and screw trick. Might give you enough traction to remove the screw.

Thanks, the wristband is to discharge any electric charge from your body, no u don't have to disconnected the fan...

Ok, thank you. In the end the problem wasn't dust with my fan, but that it didn't turn so much. So I bought a replacement fan and installed it. And the laptop is now usable again :) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEO: I didn't know how to do any of this before, and thanks to your video I got the confidence to it / learnt how to do it :) Awesome, thanks man

Can you tell me the name brand of screwdrivers you have. I got stuck at the DVD screws and bought Jakemy Precision tools before I saw the update 9/2020. The toolkit that I bought does not have the +1.7 screwdriver that you use. I've tried the different screwdrivers in the toolkit, but I am unable to get the DVD out. Please help. Thanks

Yes I solved it. Ordered a screw driver set suitable for electronics purposes from Amazon. After that it's just careful disassembly and inspection.

Well thanks for the video. Only one thing u must include in this video is that there is going to be pain in the a*s while removing the 2 damn screw above the DVD player from inside. Soln that worked for me- f**king bend the head of both the screw upward by using flat screw driver and then remove it by hand. Before this my laptop used to be a diesel engine at cold start.👍

I'm planning to install RAM but, I have the ab029tx which has 4gb pre installed, so should I buy 8gb or a 4gb RAM as I have heard people having problem with different size RAMs. Also did you experience a huge difference after installing 16gb RAM from your 8gb version.

+Akash Singh i would suggest you to buy a 8 gig ram coz in the future if you wanna upgrade to 16 gb it will be easy, actually 8 gb more than enough for now as only Just Cause 3 used more than 8 gb ram during game-play and a few games crossing the 7 gb usage, the only other thing i noticed that the boot up was faster...

try ebay or remove the fan and take it to your local laptop repair store and check with them or the hp service center would be the best option...

Hey, thanks for your videos on this particular laptop. I have the same. But have a peculiar problem. See if you can help. 2 years back this laptop had it's screen replaced as it fell and there were black spots all over. The laptop service centre guys said the 1080p screen is not available and hence they installed a 1366x768 screen. Since then I am not able to use the 940m GPU. It won't allow me to select the GPU in Nvidia settings also. I am willing to replace the screen again to get that 1080p resolution, but what is the problem currently I have? As in the GPU not selecting. Thanks

Hi, i am glad that my videos are helpful, the display runs on the Intel gpu, the 940m runs the games, so if your games run fine then, your laptop is ok and running fine...

@@DomGamingnMore thanks for the reply. Thing is, the games are not running off the GPU. GPU use is 0 when games are running. And game settings show the Intel HD 5500 as the graphics unit used. I have a feeling the guys at the service centre did not connect the 1366x768 display into the correct slot or maybe it didn't have the connector for the 940m. Correct me if I'm wrong. I want to keep using this laptop. It's build quality is awesome and after getting the SSD installed as per your videos I can get it to run faster. Thanks

+TylerY i think SSD's are avail in 2.5" size and the HDD in laptops are the same size or form factor, as for cloning i have never done it but there are many apps out there...

USE A PAPER CLIP TO OPEN THE DRIVE ,WHEN IT OPENS YOU ARE ABLE TO USE SOME UP AND DOWN FORCE TO REMOVE IT.

i dont remember, but when u are trying to remove it make sure to put enough pressure so that the screwdriver can get a better grip on the screw...

@@DomGamingnMore i couldn't and eventually i had to do some diy by soldering out screws ..lol ..sounds freakish . But i succeeded in replacing cpu fan so kudos to me and thanks to you :) Say if i increase ram , will i be able increase gpu memory just the way we used to do in desktops ?

You're welcome and that's great that you were able to remove those screws, increasing the ram will only give u stable fps but wont increase your fps and when the game uses all of the GPU memory it will push it to the ram and thus u will see ram usage go up...

Thanks man you finally save my ass.. Like seriously those 4 top ledge is the one which I am unable to do by my self.. Like seriously it was pain in the ass... And those 2 hidden screw.. Thanks for tell me.. As I don't even have any idea regarding it is there initially... Hopefully now I am able to upgrade and clean my laptop by myself and doesn't have to rely on laptop shop.. P.S I have the same laptop just 14" model.....

oh crap hope the threading of the screw is not messed up yet... take the correct screw driver and while trying to unscrew put a little pressure and it should unscrew....

Hi actually the Hdd that comes with the laptop is 5400 rpm, now i dont know if 7200 will work well enough or if the laptop will support it... Brand wise i think any will work fine... depends on your preference....

+Nayan Khanore no its not needed for now but yesterday when i was playing just cause 3 (i was fiddling with the settings for my next video).i did see the memory usage go above 8gb and also in raise of the tomb raider it did reach close to 8 Gb of ram usage... so yeah in the future it might be needed...

My hard drive keeps making this click noise every 5 minutes , I ran tests on it and they all came back good. I had to install a software caked quiet hdd and the noise stopped do you have any idea why this is so? it would be nice to not have to use a software to make your laptop stop making noise

i never faced that on the laptop but i did face that with my portable hdd, and that would happen only when the connection between the hdd and usb port on the pc was loose....

if i remember correctly there are 2 cables connected to the hard drive you just need to take those out, but to reach the Hard drive you need to open the laptop as shown i this video...

Even i had same issue. So I took the laptop to technician and got it removed,which turned into a tedious task for him too. Later I asked him not to place them back as it would be difficult for me to remove them again.
