If the battery goes dead and i do not have a replacement battery available AND I want to be able to LOCK the door from the inside using that little latch and UNLOCK the door using a key......Can I do both ?
mine works great EXCEPT in very very very cold weather!!! I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada and here we get Arctic weather in winter.. ive had some issues when it reaches -25 or colder!! issues include door not unlocking....... BUT when warmer temps abopve -25, never had an issue.. change battery once a year to make sure battery doesnt die

@@keriechoiniere7003 gotta use the key.. otherwise, try pulling the handle towards you as you enter the keypad code! pull towards you and keep pulling and enter code.. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE BATTERY EVERY FALL SEASON!!!!! dont forget when temp drops the power of the battery drops.. so best to have a full charged brand new battery in it
Thanks all. A locksmith came and rescued me. I changed the battery but I am now upgrading to a smart lock so I can unlock it from my phone next time. I’ve had this lock for years and it did me well.
have 3 of these locks my issue is today i changed out the batteries and they no longer “auto lock” or “lock” at all. Also doesn’t lock when i use the back up key and turn it. any help is appreciated since im in central america in my vacation home for another week and half. Thanks

This model will only lock the exterior keypad when the interior flex turn above the knob/lever is in the horizontal position. On this lock with the thumb turn is vertical on the inside the lock will stay locked from the exterior and require the user code to open from the outside. If the thumb turn is horizontal on the inside the lock will remain unlocked on the exterior and just act as a passage.
How do you lock it from the inside? I have a toddler and he can open it easily because of the auto not locking from the inside feature. Is there a way to have it locked from the inside with overriding that feature??

That would be something to think about for your next model for parents who have young children. I totally get the idea behind it, but there should still be a way to lock it from the inside if you need to for whatever your reasoning is. Just some feedback!

Thanks for reaching out to Shchlage Support. I'm sorry to hear your lock is dead. The FE595 (lock pictured) does not have a 9-Volt battery port. This lock uses a traditional key to gain entry in the event of a dead battery. Without the key, you will require professional locksmith assistance to gain entry. Thank you and have a safe day.
everytime I try to enter the 6 digit program code it beeps after 4 numbers as if I am trying to enter an entry code. I am unable to change my codes and I need to since my son gave it out. Now what?
I don't have this exact lock, but on my Schlage Connect Deadbolt you have to enter the six digit code without hitting the Schlage button to get it to accept the six digit programming code. This as opposed to hitting the Schlage button before entering the 4 digit entry code.
I installed two of these locks and neither of them work. They do not lock automatically, nor with the keys. What is wrong?? There is no customer service at Schlage responding!

For mine, when the door is locked and closed, after entering the code to enter the room, the door still remains locked afterwards. Is there a way to fully have the door unlock after unlocking the door? It seems to set like this permanently by manufacturer. Any suggestions?

What does it mean when you enter a valid code, the Schlage button flashes green nine or times, and it doesn't unlock? It will unlock with the key only.

Same here; I assumed the door was locked, and I can't lock it no matter what; fear it's been unlocked for several years; thankfully nothing has happened.
Mine sucks, it unlocks without the code. Yes I turned the inside lever both ways and nothing helps. It just unlocks all the time. Beginning to hate this very expensive lock that does not work for crap
