Olga I love this series. I received a Generous Gardener climbing rose in a container from David Austin this fall. They said it was okay to keep it inside to protect it but to be sure I pot it up and put it in a cool place like say a basement. I don't know if you have anything extra to say about doing it that way or if I can possibly get away with leaving it in a drafty area of the house. What limits can I push to over wintering indoors if my rose is a baby?

Again, another really informative one 🤗 . It had never occured to me WHY the instructions may say bury the union beneath soil. Nor did I question what a sucker was, now I assume that comes from the root stock
Hi Olga - thanks so much for your advice. I’m in zone 6B in CT and my Lady of shallot roses had a lot of black spot this summer. Now that we’ve had several nights of freezing temperatures at night I will defoliate my roses. After stripping off the leaves should I then spray them with horticultural oil? Neem oil? Or should I just wait until spring to spray them with oil? Thank you
