Dude, just caught this. I love the fact that there's no hyped up nonsense, all simple matter of fact tone of voice. It's "real". I've been a bike mechanic for years, but never tried my hand at painting. This just made it a not-so-daunting task. Thanks, man. Kudos for a great video.

This is one of the best painting videos I've seen on RU-vid. Not just for bikes. I like it because you don't have that fancy booth you were talking about. And for a guy like me that is about to paint his own bike soon, and probably a car, its a HUGE inspiration. Obviously you know what you are doing too! Awesome information in this. This video made it on to my "Craftsmen" play list because, despite the incredibly annoying repetitive music that ruins the sound track and forces you to miss dialogue because you have to turn off the volume to avoid getting so pissed off you want to kick the cat, it is still packed with superb work and information. The genius is in the preparation, repair, spraying and fantastic attention to detail and not in the appalling sound editing. Whoever did that.....Either change the music regularly or avoid it altogether. Maybe consider using the sound of ocean waves, wind, gurgling streams, bird song and so on (Most of that stuff can be found free on the net) as a substitute for repeating the same music over and over again. Even so, this is an excellent video for learning with and it is always a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work. Thank you.

Thanks Paul...You can wait between 16-24 hours without scuffing, it varies on the both, clear, etc. I wouldn't wait that long myself...if I did I would go ahead and lightly scuff it. Better safe than sorry

At 1:05:00 when you spray the flow coat clear. Does the clear hide the 600 grade sand paper scratches?

Use Plasti-Dip, then not only does it tint it, it is removable too so you can redo/undo it. Only on the inside of the glass.

I used 80,180,220,400....you just have to work your way to a higher grit to get it smooth as possible before paint

use a plastic welder not fiberglass on oem plastic

Fiberglass will make the finished product stronger than it was when new. A better option in my own personal opinion. Not to mention if you plastic weld it you are still going to have imperfections that are going to need to be body worked.

Nope fiberglass was never designed for plastic. Fiberglass only sticks to fiberglass not wood metal plastic none of that shit

@@SprayWayCustoms for sure brother, you're really good👍 you have any pointers for doin the frame and fairings with aerosol cans? Don't have an ideal set up for painting either. Wanting that murdered out dark dark black gloss for fairings then was gonna try and find a really dark red gloss for the frame and accents. Just tryna figure out how to get it lookin professional(ish) with that hard gloss coat that won't chip off or peel. Someone told me if I buy the paint, a lot of autoparts stores can throw it into an aerosol can for you, but I don't wanna drop all that money and end up doing it wrong

@@SprayWayCustoms idk how to attach pics, but I got some of that rust-oleum clear gloss enamel because everybody is saying to stay away from lacquer. I'll prolly return it later for that 2k so I dont have to wait so long for the cure, but you think as long as I make sure the final top coat is completely smooth and has that gloss then the final product will look pretty high quality after I spray the 2k clear gloss on? Whether it's on the fiberglass fairings or the steel frame?

Somehow paint and body work seems more achievable when it's not done at a shop that has tools the average guy/girl doesn't have available to them. This was a great job done out of you're normal shop setting. I learned something and worth everything. Keep it homie.

I came here via the black chopper tank vid where he does literally everything wrong. It's all about the guide coat and levelling out those low spots isn't it? Now I feel more equipped to have a go myself. You're a good teacher.
