How to Paint Tau: White, Green and Red.

Ye things would go really bad. Toxic part alone would be bad, as you would have a lot of fumes. The thinner in streaking grime could start melting the synthetic sponge depending on what it's made of. Sponge would also soak up a massive amount of the grime, resulting in it being very expensive. You could defiantly achieve the oil leak look by applying a little bit with a brush and then in a downwards motion going over with a make up sponge or a dry brush.

I try to take some breaks now, but the desire to paint always pulls me back in as well 😄 I think painting different things instead of focusing on an army is what I found the most helpful.

No no it's the other way around 😂 Speed paint has the same problem as contrast paints where it's VERY thick out of the bottle, it's the main cause behind those staining effects. My bad I really should have clarified which 3 to 1 it was. Glad you enjoyed the video though :D

@@AnotherDayMiniatures It's just the fun and engaging style of your content I guess; really gets me back to the painting table. I figured the filtering effect would be too harsh with the speedpaint / contrast being the majority of the mix, but since I just found the perfect paint remover for me (the Green Stuff World one works wonders within an hour!) I'll happily try things out without being too anxious about ruining models I've been gluing, filing and de-moldlining for hours :) Did you ever experience the flow improver to leave behind some kind of "stickyness" on the model? Not the kind of "leaving glue-ish residues on your finger", more like "catching every last bit of dust floating around" or being "waaayyy to smooth".

@@Westenmensch Thank you for the compliment, glad the videos aren't too boring 😃 Ye, most speed paints and contrast fall apart if you add water, but flow improver works wonder for them. I tend to strip all my miniatures with just some isopropyl alcohol, and an old tooth brush. It does indeed, flow improver will always dry to this semi sticky, very smooth surface, depending on the amount used it can be hard to notice. With a lot of it on the model, it will create these "tar" pools. I usually varnish my models afterwards just to remove that effect.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a shaky relationship with Tau. They need a primaris upgrade, so they can be easier to paint 😂

It's an incredible shortcut for a lot of different looks. It definitely has limits, mainly in the bit of texture that's unavoidable. I prefer it over oil washes, but that's only because I can't find it in myself to wait 2-5 days for oil paint to be more or less dry.😄
