Sorry for the quality not use to the dslr camera yet! But today I'm gonna show you how to spray paint your gpu and replace the thermal pads, and paste! if your thermal pads aren't damaged when removing the shroud or backplate you do not need to replace them! hopefully I make show you that it is not as scary as it may seem! We go through the screws and how I like to apply the spray paint, the thermal pads and the thermal paste! the spray paint I used is not a plastidip it is...

i also did
Rust-Oleum clear finish w/ glitter flakes
the glitter isn't as noticeable but I wanted to see if it would reflect the LED inside my case!

The most important things: the paint to use and how to prepare the surface of the shroud. Everyone's GPU is going to be different so focus on the important bits.

Nicely done. Turned out great! Did you notice any temp changes? Also, Jayztwocents recommends a soft bristle toothbrush with isopropanol for cleaning memory/cpu etc components. 0 pressure and just let the brush do the work.

Great Job Man. Looks Very Nice. Video Quality is very bad. I think you know this. maybe next time record in well light area ?? otherwise this was one awesome video. I watched the entire thing twice so i can do the same thing to my GPU.

thanks I appreciate it! But yes the camera I was using is more of a photography camera and is not good with videos, so the quality sucks I did get a new camera maybe ill make an updated version.

@@hblana8907Ya no problem! Glad you Enjoyed it! If its new and your very careful not to rip the thermal pads you shouldn't have to replace them, but you will need to replace the thermal paste just for good measure!

Depends on the type of acrylic paint. If it’s heat resistant enough than you should be able too!

Thx for the video , it was very helpfull! But i don't know if i should get a allready white with a beutifull turquoise detail rtx 2060 super or a rx 6600 black and paint it. Ps: rx 6600 has a better mhz speed and lower price , arround 50€ or so

No problem, I am glad you enjoyed it! It just depends if u wanna save yourself the time and trouble of taking it apart and painting it. but personally I would go for the RTX 2060 if it already has a beautiful custom design, and then you wouldn't have to worry about voiding the warranty(Unless its used) on the RX 6600, if you happen to mess up during the painting process! No matter what you choose i'm sure you will be happy!

@@Yiro. i had previous painted a few thing on my setup and they turned out pretty good , the rtx 2060 its used and so is the rx 6600 but in performance rx6600 wins and it was a lower price , i have 1 month to decide but thanks , i love to ear other opinions :D

Having a similar dilemma. I can get a white 3060 ti. Or paint a 6700xt, which I’m way too scared to do. But the 6700xt is better. I wish amd had their gpus in white.

@@DoovidE I personally would go with the 3060ti. This way if you do run into a problem then you are still covered by the warranty! I believe the 3060ti scores slightly higher in benchmarks but its so minimal that i wouldn't justify buying the 6700xt to just void your warranty!

No, i dont believe they do. As long as you make sure the coat is light it shouldn't make them louder or effect their performance.

It will depend on your gpu but the size I used was 2 mm

@@amirazry4166 i believe for the vram on the front your thickness is 2mm and for the vram on the back your thickness is 3mm, but i would double check to make sure thats correct.

look for heat resistant paint I did Rust-Oleum white enamel. then topped it off with a Rust-Oleum Clear coat, I know enamel paint is heat resistant.

Yes, I would suggest you stay as organized and as clean as possible! A box for each sets of screw to keep track where they go, make sure your paint is high heat spray paint. When painting make sure to spray far enough to get a nice thin coat. And make sure you don’t do to much coats. Also record yourself dissembling your gpu just in case you forget where each screw goes. Make sure you find out what thickness of thermal pads your gpu takes because that’s important. And don’t forget some thermal paste! And use 90% and up isopropyl alcohol to clean off old paste and stuck thermal pads! Other than that you got it! Let me know how it goes!

You notice painting the fans messed with them at all? Temp wise etc. I’m just about to paint my 4090 and WANT to paint the fans but a lot of people say not to?

Sorry for the late reply! No I haven’t noticed a difference at all, just make sure you do a nice even coat that’s not too thick and they should come out good, I do believe my gpu is running cooler but I’m sure it has to do with the fact that i re did the thermal paste and pads and I re did my computer so the fans are a lot better! I used Gelid thermal pads but make sure you verify the size of the thermal pads needed for your specific GPU. The size i needed were about 2.0mm

The only part I disagree with in this would be painting the fans, the extra weight or possible weight imbalance could reduce the motor lifespan, but otherwise good tutorial

Thanks for the feedback! I wasn’t to concerned with that as much because fan replacements are pretty cheap. But just wanted to show the fans being painted for people that might want to try it and put their gpu vertically! Should of added a part saying the potential downsides!

yea with how light my coat was and how hot is was that day like 99 degrees it only took about 30 minutes for each coat to dry.

I only painted sa front panel and didn't open sa back plate. I was too scared to do it and might end up with a broken gpu. Haha. But it was a job well done since i'm placing it vertically.

Ya, i mentioned that in the video, Most people that take on this project have a GPU out of warranty and like to tinker with their tech. Plus, Your unlikly to break these gpus unless your not carful. The point isnt buying a white gpu i had 5 3090s to test one on so i said why not and teach people. no reason to buy a 6th one that is white. if you look in the comments most people are doing a custom color scheme that you cant buy. Seriously, just imagine being a person who watched this video, someone taking the initiative to try something that is not at all simple, and taking the chance and documenting it for others who are going for a white build, but can't afford a new GPU.
