In Hong Kong airport I’ve only went there once and we were buying a jacket for my lil bro and the price was 80$ for a random small jacket that you can get on the street of India for 10$ 😭☠️
@@kingkau123 we literally have a market called hong kong market in a city called Siliguri connecting north east india to the mainland.There you can get all major western brands at like 80% off although they have minor barely noitceable defects.
Problem is the standard price with tax is most of the time lower or similar. As the one in the airport without tax. They just make it more expensive because it’s an airport
oh in britain the tax is in cluded in the price . For instance if a perfume cost £45 and the tax was £3. That mean sthe original price would be £4 so the tax is within the price it is seperate
@@Mikey-ym6ok That's not how it works?? VAT is standard rated. in Germany its 19%, the UK has 20%. South Africa has 15%. In the US, they have a sales tax only on the final retail sale that ranges between 5% and 7% depending on the state. Plus in South Africa, the VAT must be shown on your slip, its the law.

In many countries Duty Free prices are same or higher then usual prices in that country. So the additional profit from the absence of the taxes goes to shop owners.
I australia they combine the price and tax so if its six bucks for example that could mean 5.50 with 50 cent tax so that way you know your only paying 6 bucks

Money tip don't buy in duty free stores because there charge high street prices use the internet oon the phone to look what it would cost to order it at home
Duty free stores are way more expensive including liquor ,cologne ,chocolate etc The only thing you can get cheaper outside a retail store are cigarettes which is 10 packs is like 50$
Also don’t forget in order for your to shop at a duty free store you have to have an outbound international flight you can’t just buy that stuff when your flying domestic. So if you flying to Europe buy it in the states. Then check it when you fly back. And you can shop at duty free in Europe as well and bring it directly to the states. But no international ticket. No duty free
Just wanna throw out this personal observation that when you buy stuff and duty free it's not necessarily cheaper than buying them with tax because they raise the prices sometimes to achieve it more than if you bought it with taxes
also duty free shops are so expensive that they don't even need taxes to be overpriced ^^ a box of certain chocolates at the airport without the taxes cost more than the same box of chocolate at a grocery store in a near town with tax
If you are buying duty free they’ll put it in a tamper bag but if you have a connecting flight you might be required to check the item. But if you are flying direct to your home airport you can carry on a whole bottle of liquor as long as it stays in the tamper bag.
Fun fact. That's only if you declare it. If you pay in cash then it doesn't show up on your card. It doesn't look like a taxable item. It's not as easy to track and if all you have to do is then store it in a bag instead of carrying it so it's visible. This is why you should always carry a Carry on that is empty and one that is full if you choose to be doing this Keep in mind what I just Described is most likely illegal, but it is doable just be careful
Adding tax onto the labled price is a problem only the US experiences. The rest of us don't do that, the price on the lable is the price you pay. If cologne was 100€ on the label, then the price is 100€ when you go to pay.
Taxfree kind of feels like a scam, i don’t know if it’s like that in every country but it isnt any cheaper in tax free at all compared to buying things at home. Like i’ve seen perfumes for $80 but when i check online theyre equal price or sometimes cheaper
Shopping on military bases is also tax free, but the prices aren’t set to gouge. Almost everything is tax exempt, gas, guns, groceries, alcohol, Taco Bell, everything.
😂 Duty free shops are such a scam. Same chocolate in duty free shop is like 20$. Outside in the market it is 10$ and you pay duty of 20 even 40% and it's not same.
