This is a really cool video, my friend! That Pyrex percolator is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time! I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one of those. Somewhere I have a percolator because I was trying different styles of coffee. I definitely boiled mine too hard.I’m going to revisit this style of coffee brewing again. I bet I will enjoy it. Nicely done.

Great video! I love percolator coffee. You explained it well! Most naysayers say "it's just boiled coffee." That's because they are making it wrong! I swing between pour overs and percolator coffee, but I agree with the benefit of filling my Stanley thermos and pouring myself a cup throughout the day at camp. I am now on the hunt for a glass perc because of this video. Thanks for sharing.

Great demonstration, Dick! I always used a percolator while camping, and it was always some of the best coffee!!! Sometimes, I'd even break it out at home because I was craving it!😀👍✌️

We don't use it much such we started taking the Jeep instead of the PU (and instant doesn't take up much space) but when you have a group there is nothing better!

Thank you! I was always curious about how to use a "non electric" percolator. The electric ones we used when I was a kid always automatically shut off. Now I know how long, thanks again.

Great video and info. I agree with everything especially getting the water up to temp and not over boiling it. I boil my coffee 10 -11 minutes on medium to low boil, then let it set for 5 minutes. The one thing I do differently is that I do use a paper filter in the basket. It seems to cut down on coffee grounds getting in your coffee and aids in clean up.

Thanks for dropping by the channel. I have never used a filter but I see a lot of folks do it and one of the percolators I recommended comes with them. I normally like stronger coffee so go a bit longer than the 7 minutes but 7 a good compromise between Camera Lady and myself.

Dick, I like our perc, but I really dont use it as much anymore. In our trailer, we use the K-cups. Off-grid, it's usually just me, so I use pour over or instant. That clear perc you have is a beauty.

Hey there, yes we often take instant on our trips for the simplicity and ease of clean up but when we have a group the percolator is a real winner! Your ice fishing season going to be wrapping up soon? Heck we are getting a couple days in the 60s and low 70s here.

@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 our ice isn't going anywhere. Overnight lows in the -4 Fahrenheit to -13 Fahrenheit range. Still like 20+ inches of ice. We will be icefishing all through March!

I got one of these at Goodwill years ago because I thought it was for tea 😂😂 I'm going camping for the first time with friends, and won't have a camp stove. Could this glass percolator go by a campfire on a metal cooking grate? Not directly under a fire, but a little to the side? Thank you!

@@mariacook351 Have fun camping! I would think since it can sit on the fire from the stove it would be fine but I would be careful to only use over a well established coal bed and make sure there is room to pull it to a cooler area if it simmers too hard. I am not 100% confident in my answer though. Also taking a glass percolator camping might be risking a breakage.
