"the speed is whats gon keep you from falling over" was so hard for me to learn at first lol. you remind me of a friend I had many years ago when I first started riding. nice video man

That fear of falling over while going slow and turning is definitely a fear that most of us faced at the beginning cause I had it too! Appreciate you for watching though!

I only see a small mistake, but most people make it & we’re fine. There’s only one method to turning a bike. You countersteer at all speeds, but speed exaggerates the sensation of countersteering so your brain only notices it at higher speed. I love how you said “speed is what keeps the bike up” & that’s 100% correct. Gyroscopic precession is what turns the wheel in the direction of travel after you finish leaning the bike over. The reason this isn’t as noticeable at lower speed cause the bike doesn’t need to lean as far to turn. The faster you go, the more the bike must lean to turn. But, after that lean, no matter the angle, the front tire will turn into the turn without rider aid. The way I understand this is the faster I go, the more force I need to apply to my bars to lean the bike over. The bike must lean to turn & we confuse the low degree lean angle of slow speed maneuvers with “direct steering”. It may feel like the bike is upright when going slow, but the truth is it’s only more upright than if you were going faster. It’s still leaned over, just not far enough for your brain to notice lean angle.

I feel like there’s a certain point between conventional and counter steering where you don’t turn the handle bar at all and the bike just somehow turns lol

Gyroscopic effect. Good you mentioned that.

You’re in Gwinnett county. I know that mall over there on Steve Reynolds. Nice big lot to practice at.

(2024 Ninja 500) new rider here. Iv been slowing down by holding clutch, pressure on front brake and downshifting as the mph goes down. Holding the clutch the entire time and only finally releasing the clutch when I’m in first or 2nd (depending on how fast I can make the turn). It feels smooth and I’m just coasting. Is this ok???
@StewieTopless
@StewieTopless 3 месяца назад
I’d never recommend coasting on the bike. The bike gets stability by being “loaded” & you’d really notice the difference if you went through the turn with your clutch depressed. However, the biggest factor is your sensation of safety. If it feels good then technically you’re not doing anything wrong. I’d rather you coast until you’re more comfortable downshifting than trying to learn how to wheelie the bike. Try to practice downshifting(engaging each gear) as you slow down, but you aren’t hurting the bike & only slightly putting yourself in a dangerous position. If you need to accelerate & miss the turn to stop someone from rear ending you, you won’t be able cause you hold the clutch. That’s a very specific scenario though. Keep doing what makes you comfortable until you can do more. No harm no foul

are you pushing down or forward with the handlebars for high speed?
@RoamMoto

I am pushing down in the direction I want to go.
@hoymikey

@@RoamMoto hmm, push forward of the handlebar seems the norm 😬
@orlandoflores7720
@orlandoflores7720 3 месяца назад
It’s called counter steering. If you push forward on the left grip, the front wheel turns slightly right but the bike dips to the left. Making it easier to lean in to a left turn. Try it while sitting on you bike both feet down on the ground.

what type of phone mount do you have?

It's a mount I got from Amazon called Joyroom. I don't recommend it though cause it gets in the way of the tachometer.

Some say above 8mph some above 15 others above 20 everyone has his own theory about when countersteering starts....smh

I don't think you pull 'up' or push 'down'. You push 'forward' or pull 'backwards'. You can't turn a bike by pushing down on the handlebars.

You are correct sir. I wouldn’t recommend lifting up on the bar unless you want to wheelie.

I can tell your passion of being on two wheels but you are not a good teacher or your skills are lacking. The push is to push the bar away from you to turn the bars not push the bars in a roll. The reason is counter steering. Also dragging a rear brake and using the friction zone of the clutch is how you do slow speed turns. I recommend either going to some riding classes or becoming an instructor before putting out poor quality how to videos on youtube. This could actually be dangerous to new riders.
@zl1booker

I second that, as he kept say pull up and pull down to go right/left. You push right to go right and push left to go left. There is no pull up and down.... period.
