I came across your channel today. What a joy it is to listen to your tips for growing cosmos. This Fall, I plan to start cool plants by seed. I'm in Zone 8 in the USA. I'm going to start out with Cosmos, Larkspur, Love in a mist, and Snapdragons by seed and see how it goes. It's probably too late in the season to start, so I'm going to work my soil and maybe direct sow my seeds this fall. Our winters Zone 8 in South Carolina are not very harsh, so maybe I'll try direct sowing this fall, so by spring, hopefully I'll have a nice spread of cut flowers.

I am planting some cosmos flowers in my garden in hope that they will bloom in the time of our Lunar New Year holiday in Vietnam about a month and a half from now. This is really helpful, since the last time I grew them they were really tall but produce just a few flowers. Thank you

Just take that "tip" you cut off and stick it in the dirt and voila new plants from the clippings!

I bought some dwarf cosmos and they grew to be 36" tall and started falling over. I guess even the dwarf cosmos need to be pinched! charlotte, north carolina, usa zone 8a

The video is very helpful, thank you so much! I have had planted cosmos this spring and now at the end of August there are many growing and some of them have grown huge! However there has been only 1 or 2 flowers in all that area! I thought of cutting it, and I did cut them a few days ago, in hopes it will promote flowers. Did not cut them too much though. My questions are will new flowers apper on stems that have never had any flowers on them? Will cutting help? Is it too late to obtain a lot of flowers? My climate is mediterranean so warm weather usually continues well into autumn. So maybe there is hope for more flowers? Thanks again!

I live in the desert and they are like 5 inches and start blooming should I pinch out the flowers?

I am in Florida and decided to begin Cosmos from seed in pots. When they got about 12 inches tall after pinching I decided to put them into the ground. Meanwhile a couple days later I noticed two of the 6 plants were cut off by 8 inches, decapitated and leafless. Next thing you know all of them day after day were victim to the same thing. Chopped off and only a stem 5 inches remains. What do you think could have done this and do you think they will grow back?

A couple of questions. 1) can the cutting be propagated? 2) the seeds have been grown in a pot and have randomly sprouted. They are not evenly spaced. Should I do some thinning or leave them as they are?

My cosmos seedling has only 2 set of leaves and its stem is getting too long , how to pinch a plant with only 2 set of leaves ?

Followed your advice last spring….the results have been outstanding! It’s the 1st of November, and my cosmos bush is huge, with literally hundreds of buds waiting to bloom( a nice number of flowers have managed!) One good day of sun will, I’m sure result in a fabulous display. I’ ll take a pic and send it to you. Do you have email address ?
