How to Pipe Buttercream Flower Bouquet Cupcakes - Roses, Peonies & Hydrangea Piping Techniques

Hi and welcome back to my kitchen. This week I'm making these really pretty buttercream flower cupcakes. In this tutorial I show you how to pipe buttercream roses, buttercream peonies and buttercream hydrangeas. The cupcakes are then finished off with some buttercream leaves and little flower buds.
These would be perfect for birthday cupcakes, wedding cupcakes or for Mothers Day. Plus you can also use these piping techniques to add the flowers onto your larger cakes.

I found the hydrangea flowers very difficult to pipe with room temperature and stiff American buttercream. I just can't get them to stay the pretty square shape you piped. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Excellent tutorial, thanks. Very well explained. The trick to pipe straight onto the square parchment instead of using the scissors to transfer it is very good.

Lynz, you do such beautiful work! And you are SO pleasant to watch. You are so precise and explain everything so well while also giving us a good view of what you are using. I am 65 and slowing down a bit so I was all with you until we got to the hydrangeas and then you lost me! Nothing to do with your teaching...it's just me! lol! They are one of my most favorite flowers but I am having a really hard time mastering them! In fact, all three of my favorites are on these cakes. I gotta tell you, though...if mine looked that beautiful, I don't know if I could eat them or if I'd just sit and look at them! So beautiful and amazing...thank you so much, my dear.

Hi Lyn, I absolutely love watching your videos and learning how to make beautiful floral cupcakes. Just a question, I use wilton gel colours to colour my buttercream. However I have found them quite dull in colour. Does the colour splash brand provide a brighter and vibrant colour? X

These are pretty! I love how detailed ypur instructions are. I do have a question though, how do you store frosted cupcake? I'm worried that the frosting might create moisture. Do you decorate them a day before delivery(if you're selling them) or the day of delivery

I love love your videos, but you should also write a book. I would buy it in a heartbeat. One that is very bright and clear like your videos, with tips and techniques, like a reference book, with side-by-side comparisons of the tips like you did with the 2D and 1M. It is sometimes hard to start and stop a video whilst actually decorating, but having a visual image would be helpful. Having food allergies and intolerances often means baking our own stuff, so I make it a point to make sure it doesn't look homemade. Thank you so much!
