"Make sure your stomach is pressed against your spine." For people who don't speak "Gym", what they mean is imagine someone's gonna punch you in the stomach, and you're bracing for it. You know how you can make your stomach "tighter" to take the hit better? That's what you're trying to do- not "sucking in your gut because they're a cutie over there". You should still be able to breath, and the stomach won't be squished in- but the abdominal muscles around that area will be working, so you get more from the exercise (and strengthen those muscles as well).

@@Belieber713 Presuming you're doing the brace (not sucking in), it should be okay. What you might trying to do is bracing the muscles when you're standing up so you are more comfortable doing it (and breathing while you're doing it)- I've found using the shower for this isn't bad- and as a benefit, its a lite core workout too. (And, you can try to hold the brace and get in the plank in the shower, and see if the muscles hold better when you go into plank position, holding the brace the whole time.)

I started four days ago and can only do 1 minute. So exhausting but really feel great afterwards. I do five times a day 8, 12,3, 5, and 8 (after each prayer time!). Thank you

started at 20 seconds, then 30, then a minute, then 1 minute and 30, made it 2 sets, then 3 sets. Until reached the day I could do 2 minutes 3 sets a day. It took me around 5 months, I just never forgot to do it every morning regardless of how long I could do at first.

I did these planks for the first time after warm up and your instructions helped me tremendously. I could do it for 25 seconds in my first attempt and I started sweating 😀 What an amazing 25 seconds. Thanks a ton for this wonderful tutorial 👏👏👏👏

Its been tough since my Partial-Nephrectamy operation last December. Gradually I have used vids like this one to improve my ability to get supple & progress to strengthening my lower back & shoulders with occasional planking. This was very helpful & as I've just about cured my tennis elbow/shoulder pain, gradually reducing my Piriformas issues ftom the nerve damage via the op, getting it down to 20% invariable on/off pain depending on movement, this high plank is jyst what I need. An Informative & helpful video.

I did it! Do 2 minutes plank then rest for 30 seconds then 2 minutes again until you meet a total of 10 minutes a day. Abs and triceps will show within 5 days. It will not be a solid abs like others but you can still see it.

@@OnlySayori - I do it differently now. I do 4 minutes plank per day for the next 30 days. You can do the above I mentioned or 4 minutes plank (if you can hold it for that long). Your body will start to change in about 7 days. And 30 days later your body will be different.

I’ve started a challenge that I have to do a 1 minute plank for an entire year everyday. Today I decided to check if I was doing it correctly because my neck was hurting. I learned a lot from this video thank you. Update: due to school stress i stopped after 224 days. It was fun and if i did it you can do it too!

You weren't kidding about the diff in difficulty, hands started hurting so I switched to the harder version and notice real quick the change in shudders from my body. Worth it though at a minute a morning before work.

I was able to do an standard plank for a minute. It’s possible that I was doing something wrong but I don’t think I was. First time doing any kind of exercise in over a year, so I was a little surprised but I’ve been sand bagging these past couple days so that might’ve helped a little.

When I furt saw a plank I said that will be easy but is want. The first plank that I started was the forearm plan for 60 sec (1 min) and I havent stopped from that day. Now I'm doing it a step further beyond with a heavy bag of 7-8 kg. Also nice tutorial.

As a beginner, my 1st day today! Did the standard plant 3 times 1 min each.. It's exhaustive but worth doing.. will gradually increase the numbers per day keeping duration per plank same for a month.. thanks for the inputs and guidance..

I would love some advice on how to do a plank with arthritis in your toes. They don't bend much without pain any more so it's really hard to support my weight on bent toes. I know I can do knee planks but they don't do anywhere near as much for muscle development. Even bending like is shown in the video is painful at this point and it's frustrating bc I used to do them all the time.

Yeah, I don't know what to suggest to you. It is really sad to hear because there is no way to do blank without using your toes. You can try side plank, but it is not the same as regular plank exercise. I am really sorry, Peggy.

You could use a resistance band around your shins to keep your feet just elevated from the ground. Try not to get discouraged as many different core workouts don't require you to bend your toes. Maybe try boat hold or even leg flutters. Good luck.

If i were to do this 60 seconds every day, would you recommend 60 seconds twice a day, of course with other exercises, how long do you think it'd take for the results to really show?

You can do 120 seconds in one set of blank or twice a day if you like.

Depends on your body fat percentage and what your goals are. If you are over 10% and want abs, you would want to add cardio, i.e., running or swimming, and a caloric deficit and better-sleeping habits if applicable. Remember that weight loss is about what you put into your body, not how fast you can get everything out. Good luck.
