Thank you for an informative video on hyacinths. I grew my pink, white, yellow and purple hyacinths in pots. They turned out like a bouquet; what a lovely show! Love these flowers and the fragance they put out. Will grow them again next year!

This was great! I purchased that same color Hyacinth as well as the Tulips and they are doing great! Since I am in zone 9 I am going to chill them a bit longer next year to get bigger blooms.

How to deal with store bought/potted hyacinth. (Easter plants). I want to plant in our west facing landscaping. What is the best way to do this? What to do with the potted plant after flower blooms are done? How to store until time to plant in the fall, or put them in the ground in the spring? (NW Wisconsin).

Is it too late to plant these in February zone 7b? Currently our weather is mid 40-50s in the day and 25-35 at night.

I received one as a gift in small vase water with long roots in the water. Ready to plant (early spring) but curious about all the roots?

I know it may be a bit late, but to answer your question, it is possible that if you have a squirrel, vole, etc problem. They may eat the bulbs. That said, I’ve read that they’re less appealing than say, tulips or crocus bulbs. In addition, I wouldn’t worry about deer eating them. They are highly fragrant (and toxic!), so deer tend to stay away. I hope this helps. I personally haven’t had a problem with my bulbs getting eaten, but who know!

Me too!!! I live in Ohio and bought my hyacinths while they were still budding and wanted to plant them prior to bloom. EVERYTHING I read kept saying to “store/freeze etc. Most of that advice was unfamiliar to me as these flowers THRIVE in Ohio. So now I’m stuck with these rooms that are dying off (after Wilson ever because they were so heavy in bloom) and foliage that have new blooms sprouting off of them! I am kicking myself in the butt for not planting them ASAP. Like I thought I should have, but it is what it is, I suppose. I just know that if I cut these things off down to the bulb (and there are at least three maybe four bulbs in this pot) that I’m most likely going to forget all about them after storing them because that’s the kind of procrastinating gal I am. Yaaaay, right? 🤦🏻‍♀️😭

Hi, I planted my hyacinths in pots and it bloomed heavily that some of the flower stems were bending over. Not a problem, get some stakes that are higher than the height of the plants. Set the stakes in the area where the stem(s) is bent, carefully pushing it down the soil without hurting the bulb. I used vellcro plant ties or soft strings to attach the stem to the stake. Don't use metal ties as the metal will cut thru the stem. You can also use about 3 or 4 stakes surrounding the plants and go around the outside of the stakes to attach a soft string to prevent from bending over. I can also used a thin piece of tule going around the plants and tied them to the stake. Many ways to accomplish this task. Good luck! Your hyacinths will thank you for this. 🙂
