@@Jj-nb7lf They should because it's a video game crossover. People need to know she's from a video game and not some anime like Goku is from. Her name is the name of the game so it can't be simpler.
Bullet climax is her neutral b, while bullet arts is her attack when you do her basics and hold b (in WitchTiwst or Heel Slide/After Burner Kick) or A button.
She got so many nerfs, THAT’S what convinced you to pocket her? Lol, have fun with her, I’m super happy she’s been nerfed because I still enjoy playing her a ton.
Pizza Wonderer well that’s wrong because it’s never stated anywhere in any of the games or other canon, it’s just assumed to be magic or as someone else said in this thread, a strand of her hair
Godfrey 44 If you played her in Smash 4 then that helps a lot in Ultimate. I say watch some Bayo’s in tournaments, but be careful, because a lot of what they do in tournament are advanced techniques that just require experience. Just lab her and check out her weaknesses (her Smash attacks and her lag for example), and her strengths (her impressive combo game and versatility).
@@jazzyg.5944 ugh, stop treating your character like it requires that much skill to play. There are plenty of harder characters out there, and plenty of guides that teach set-ups, combos, and how to play her neutral on websites like- smash wiki, and kurogane hammer. But if you want a character that actually doesn't have any good tutorials and is like 90% improv, pick up pac man or Robin, but stop acting like she's a very high skill cap character. Please and thank you.
Loved this! I'm a Bayo main and while I play her at very high level and can do the jump cancel technique, I actually never realized I could tell if I messed it up by if I saw her butterfly wings sprout or not. The fact that I actually learned something new about a character I've mained since her launch is a "like" from me! Great video. I'm glad SOMEONE made an in depth video on her as she's a very complex, but very fun character to play.
@@Choctopus of course! And I can only imagine. She's definitely one of the most complex characters in the game if not THE most complex (maybe tied with Snake) and one of the absolute hardest to use effectively in Ultimate. Props to you though for going so in depth and even talking about some of her more complicated functions.
Maybe bayonetta will exist in the game someday. When I say that I don’t think she is a bad character but she’s been nerfed to the ground. While some of her stuff still works I just think the needs her overall lag reduced. While I don’t want smash 4 bayonetta back, I’m sure the dev team can buff her a bit without making her busted
Her smash attacks should also killat appropriate damages that and witchtime should be fixed so that its actually reliable and not a sometime triggered thing. Side heel should also go through shields since other characters moves still do
Drew Haynes Falco and Fox can no longer go through shields. I can’t think of any move that does now, the devs said they wanted to remove “cross-shielding”
Its the fault of people like you that she has been nerfed fucking whining assholes complaining about not being able to beat a character nobody cares its a damn game and all of you whining assholes acts like its the apocalypse , who told you to not be strong enough to beat a fucking bayo? Nobody , so keep it quiet fucking whining ass.
I'm glad to see this since I'm really trying to learn Bayonetta in the recent days (and there is practically no smash ultimate basics guide for her). Thank you, Choctopus, for doing god's work.
11:40 Bayonetta can make it back with relative ease as long as you up b first, which can lead into another up b, or if you’re really low down, you can up b, side b, jump, up b, and airdodge up.
I am just gonna add things not touched on. If you jump cancel her witch twists, hitting both of them, you can do a guaranteed spike with dair. Fair combos into itself twice on the ground and sometimes in the air. You can combo off the top around 60-70% You can combo off he sides around 30% You can kill Jiggs at 0% reliably The end lag on up air and nair are almost unnoticeable off stage and these moves are great for gimping and stage spiking. Bayo does have 0-death combos, but they are unreliable. She can 0-death some heavyweights though. Forward throw in her kill throw and should kill around 160% - 180% Down throw kills at 210% When killing off the top, always end with fair. It should kill if everything goes right. Bayo did get he buff of it being harder to escape combos. Percent means nothing to Bayo because she struggles to kill at any percent and relies on spikes and off the stage combos. Or getting witch time.
Weren't Bayo combos easier to DI out of in Ultimate? I know she was buffed in the 3.1.0 patch by removing some of her end lag after using specials and increasing the slowing effect of her down B, I believe. I also believe B Air has a sweet spot at the end of the foot. The sounds that play upon impact tell if the sweet spot has connected. EDIT: The double jump refresh/cancel is also 14 frames, not 3. Could be wrong though.
Christian So you can get out between specials, but not in the middle of a special. Side specials are easier to get out of, but it usually works correctly until the final attack.
>If you jump cancel her witch twists, hitting both of them, you can do a guaranteed spike with dair. Not true if DI'd properly. You can do some cool stuff like uair>nair>abk / uair>uair>fair among others.
As someone who just picked up Bayonetta I can say without a doubt she has been the hardest character for me to play semi decently. Her complexity is actually pretty high. I have a new found respect for all Bayonetta mains.
me watching this, taking notes, even though i've played smash only twice before in my life in case my friend asks me around again and i refuse to play anyone but bayonetta
She may of been nerfed hella, but she still has a zero to death combo Healslide, up tilt, jump, up air, fastfall, while fastfalling do another up air, jump, up air, after burner, witch twist, after burner towards the death side of the screen again, jump, lead that into a whole forward air combo This works on heavy weights, I got the best results off of K. Rool and Piranha plant
@@vengeance6801 I'd ask you to play just to prove that none of that is true and it's not more than just a really risky string, but my Switch got hit with the blue screen of death sadly not too long ago
I'm literally the only person in the world who plays Bayo online. She's hard to kill with but *damn* is the payoff of winning so satisfying. *The only way to use Bayo is to choose the blue outfit*
Ephemeral Existence I definitely like the hair, and the diamonds on her legs, and the shoes, and the earrings, but I feel like they don’t fit her as a character. I VASTLY prefer her first game design too
5 year Robin main here. She’s quite simple: Step 1: Pick a Robin gender Step 2: Blast people who play the other gender Step 3: Drop Robin Step 4: Learn Link Step 5: Repeat step 4 until golden brown.
Something that really helps, especially when using down-air off stage or going far off stage for a combo string, is doing an after burner kick into the side of the stage and then air-dodging to ledge.
I honestly love playing Bayonetta (in Smash, I’m underage awa), she’s so mobile, her combos rock, her music is amazing, her design is beautiful (despite being a touch oversexualized but I mean, WFT has a bigger bust size), and her sassy, confident attitude makes her just a fun character, while at the same time never failing to be elegant, even in her attacks. I do wish she had a better stage, or at least if you turn Stage Hazards off, Clock Tower becomes static, but her combos still exist, and she is so much fun to play around with. I likely will not stop maining her unless some future patch comes out and completely destroys her ability to exist.
@@colbyellsworth6737 pit's arrows are weaker and curve much than dark pit's arrows. With the first you can annoyed characters with bad recovery like wolf. The second, if you snipe, you will probably get a kill and they have both a different side B: Pit has a smaller hitbox and cover/protect less his head. Also, he will send the opponent up Dark Pit will send the opponent in a weird diagonal So, they seems to be the same character but for particular match up, different approach :)
@@elmaionesosexo which is ironic since in the actual bayonetta games, bat within is the perfect version of witch time cause its only activated at the last second lol
Side note: Bayonetta’s Smash attacks do NOT have low priority like they did in sm4sh, however, other smashes charge at a rate of x1.4 whilst Bayonetta’s charge at x1.2, and if she activated witch time they charge at a rate of x1.1 and clanck with any grounded move the opponent used to proc witch time
Amy Rodriguez the charge rate if for knockback of the smash attack And why would they do that to the laggiest and slowest smashes in the game? Because “bAYonEtTa iS oP pLs nErF”
Tip: With the down air you can spike low and live. Jump and then use down air off stage and then up b, jump, up b, side b to ledge or wall where you can air doge or move to ledge.
Man, I always had an appreciation for the character though I suck with her. I didn't know jack about her fundamentals seen here. This opens so much up.
Im a huge but a huge but huge viewtiful joe fan and I’ve been wanting to play bayoneta but for the fact that they referenced my boy joe in bayoneta makes me want to play the game even more now than ever and even main her !
Nair into up b, fair into side b or up b, bair into up b or side b. D grab into side b. Shield cancel your charge, jump cancel your charge. Fair and nair for general edge guard. Dair for 2 frame spikes. Dash attack can also 2 frame. Fair only auto cancels from a full hop. Side tilt is fast and can kill confirm. Parry into dair is a kill confirm. Purposely go over an opponent with fair to get a free side b. With limit charge, fair gets shop autocanceling. Which makes an easy fair into side b kill confirm. Limit up b can kill at 150%.
What do you do to do damage? Bayonetta: combos What do you do to kill confirm? Bayonetta: _combos_ And... In witch time? Bayonetta: *combos* Well... To recover? Bayometta: *_combos_* AND YOUR FINAL SMASH!?!?!? Bayonetta: *_COMBOS_*
Hi there! I’m here for useless tips! (Based on no DI) Double Witch Twist only works at low- medium percents. The first witch twist launches diagonally upward in front of you (At medium percent, it normally combos into ABK, jump FAir, UAir at a very low percent and a second witch twist). The second witch twist launches the enemy straight in front of you (At low percentages, combos into FAir, UAir, ABK, and DAir [cool spike plays]). ABK has set knockback when hit with the tip (you should see a flash of blue/red streaks everywhere if you land it) the set knock is fairly little and can combo. DABK can start a combo. Hitting it at the lower parts of the enemy’s body works. Combos into first or second witch twist, a sec ABK, bullet arts NAir (low percents), bullet arts UAir (low percents, both are used to kill at the side), FAir (Low-Medium percents) and DABK itself (DABK DABK WT WT combo is still possible just rlly hard). UAir starts behind you. Become a falling skyscraper and edgeguard with bullet arts NAir or UAir. Bullet Climax and edge guard (Charge for killing, normal shots for the pew pew stay away + damage) ABK can combo into DABK, just super risky and can result into SD Witch time sucks unless you want cool kills or combo starters. For DAir, the part closet to bayo launches upward, the middle launches slightly down while the heel SPIKES. Cool combo that’s hard to pull off (Spike DAir, DWT, Spike DAir again, enemy must be at least 65% or lower for it to work or else you will miss or they just get knocked up and u die lol) UAir is great combo extender at low percents as it combos into yourself Down throw sucks FAir can kill at high percents at ledge WT can edgeguard Bat Within is stupid good Witch Time formula: Bayonetta less damage, enemy more damage, Bayonetta barely uses it and it doesn’t stale = Witch time is longer Bayonetta high percent, enemy low percent, you spam it every second = a millisecond of witch time stop spamming I just wasted ur time bye
ShadowSlayer13 I already main Kirby, I just wanted to seem some representation for my boi lol. However, I don't know how to play Marth, but I hear he's really good.
Oh good, finally a video that mentions the button presses and limits. I was wondering why I couldn't do certain things I'd seen in videos, because I just didn't know the character enough to realize you have to jump cancel the second Witch Twist.
I hate that they nerfed her. Players complained because they werent good enough to beat her in SSB on the Wii U. She went from broken in a good way to broken to a point of being almost useless.
She's got some good buffs now, her smash attacks kill earlier, her dash attack kills middleweights at about 140, her f-throw kills at a bit over 100, and she can kill off the side with a lot of practice. Edit: something I didn't see anyone say, when trying to tech the side of the stage with her, good lord, hold up.
Had to hit the bed early last night, but I am glad the "WEIN BAYO GUIDE, CHOC" meme has been laid to rest. Here's to the eventual Zero Two Mii Swordfighter guide meme
Guys don’t set a trigger to jump jump cancel into witch twist is so much easier when you use the left stick set to special and then you can up special into jump cancel into witch twist, trust me it’s so much easier than using a trigger
@@jaguar4120 so you wanted me to explain using bayonetta in an easier way, this might take a while lol. Bayonetta is mainly used as a combo character and has several combos leading out of her up special, on preset smash ultimate controller set up, (special) is always set to the “b” button. Bayonetta can increase her vertical height with a controller input specific to her called “jump cancelling” by inputting up b on a controller you will go into the first frames of up b, Bayonetta also specifically has other inputs that can be done with her special attacks called “bullet arts” that’s performed by holding onto up b in this case, ( she shoots out bullets) (this causes much more frame lag and doesn’t allow you to jump cancel as effectively. So be sure to tap directional up and b at the same time and let go, then once the up b is finished you can then jump, this is where it gets hard. When you press jump, you only have three frames ( a frame in smash ultimate is 1/60 of a second) to act out of your jump and press up b again, if you perform this correctly you will keep your jump and will have performed another b, using this you can go much further distances and is a great tool at lower percents to rack up heavy damage on every character in the game. If you look into frames in the training room in game you can set it to frame by frame, which slows down the training room in order to practice frame specific inputs. This is helpful with bayonetta because she only has three frames that she can act of her jump into another up b in order to jump cancel. ( her up b is called “witch twist” just for some added info). Unlike my original comment I since have changed my controller scheme to accurately perform a jump cancel with bayonetta, I’ll go over it now. You will want to set one of your very back triggers to jump, it will be easier if you set it to your dominant hand, then you can keep the special button as b because that still works well, have your c stick set to tilts because that helps a lot with combining her attacks into combos, With this controller set up I found it quite hard to get used to but once you do it becomes a lot easier to perform her jump cancel. So to begin with, start by jumping and then pressing up b (just on stage) then jump by using the trigger set to your dominant hand, (this is where frame by frame setting in the training room helps) within three frames of you jumping (straight after jumping) press up b again and you will with twist, you will know you have performed a jump cancel if you can still jump after both up bs in the air. I hope this helped you, I don’t think in writing there is any better way to explain it, however RU-vid also has great visual tutorials on how to jump cancel, let me know if you need anything more afterwards!!!
@@jaguar4120 I hope it made sense let me know if you need me to explain anything further :), btw avoid playing online with bad connection, it will mess up your jump cancels and give you bad habits :))
If Tap Jump is “off” then after the first up special quickly press the jump button again and right after up B to do the up special twice. It has to be quick and you may have a hard time with it online if there’s lag. In this video he recommends turning “on” Tap Jump because it will allow you to do the double up special faster and easier. With Tap Jump “on,” after the first up special simply tap up on the control stick and quickly press up B.
What I do is make zl jump and hold up, as soon as you see the first up b end you press zl and b at at the same time and you'll do it, if you do it to early them you will only jump
I think a better way to describe the jump cancel witch twist is that rather than doing witch twist, jump, witch twist you can witch twist, witch twist AGAIN and THEN jump
Her smash attacks aren’t that strong and the multiplier is decreased in witch time. Edit: also heel slide is not a good option because of its low priority and lag, tilt attacks are better for combo starters
@@Lalapopsy heel slide isn’t a good option lmao why do u think no good bayo uses it lmao. It could work online is the opponent is stupid and or doesn’t punish you properly, any good player will just hold shield and punish u by grab or an attack. You don’t know what ur talking about
@@Lalapopsy it gets punished super easily which is why you never see it being used on top play on top of that any opponent with knowledge of smash 4 will be expecting. Since her tilt attacks got buffed they hit more reliably make great pressure options and are amazing tools to combo with
I found the best way to practice jump canceling is short hop of the edge and down air and the time you get to up B you can get back with up B jump cancel up B side B into stage for extra height and air dodge if you bounce off the stage a bit to far.
