He created so much sound, it was hard to believe he could produce such a complete sound out of one guitar. Underrated guitarist and songwriter, and it was such a sad loss.

First off, thank you for making this video. It’s by far the best JTE how to play video out there. I’ve come to it many times to learn and will keep coming back to the advanced section. You’re a great musician and teach so well. I’d welcome another JTE lesson video if you have it in ya! Many thanks!

You really nail his playing style so well. This is the best explanation of Justin's guitar playing that I've seen on RU-vid, thank you! Justin was an underrated guitar player but he was one of the best in my opinion, he made each and every song sound so full and vibrant, he was a true master of his craft. I was lucky enough to snag a ticket to his Benefit Show that got moved to 2023, maybe I'll see you there! ✌

@@morningnewsmusic Hey dude I was just wondering if by any chance you know how to play "I Don't Care" by JTE? I've been trying to learn it but I cant seem to figure out the picking pattern, it's a little too fast for my ear. If you happen to know it then I was hoping you could make a video lesson when you get the chance? If you don't know how to play that one yet I'm sure you could easily learn it. Anyways, hope all is well. Take care ✌

One of the first things I read about JTE was he played Recording Kings for several reasons but one reason was he wanted his young fans to be able to go out and buy the same type of guitar he used.....good man!

I saw him in 2011 on a recommendation. Never heard his music before. To say I was blown away is a massive understatement. I had been playing for 5 years up to that point with the goal of “making it” after that show I completely changed the way I play. As a solo guitarist I think the only person who can really compete with him is the tallest man on earth, maybe John Mayer. JTE is one of the greatest guitarists of all time imo

I learned a lot of the stuff in this video by watching JTE videos in slow motion like a million times, so props for you breaking it down simply. Could’ve saved me countless hours lol. But I brought his influence into my own guitar shit so heavily it’s actually the only video on my channel. Loved his live stuff and he will be missed.

@morning news music, I met Justin in Fresno 2020 just before his show. I remember telling him how I thought his guitar style was unique and difficult for me to play. He smiled and replied that he knew of another young guy that played his style. I remember not trying to be star struck and did not ask for a photo with him, huge regret. Thanks for this video.

Unfortunately, I just recently discovered JTE a couple of weeks ago. I've been playing many similar fingerpicking variations like these, except I use thumb, 1st up, 2and3 up together, and slap down like you're showing on the 4 beat. So thank you for doing this video. I was hoping to discover some stuff that would expand my style, and this really has helped.

Jt was my cousin. I went to church this morning where he is buried. I actually was late to discover his music , I guess being related I slept on it until that legendary letterman performance which is the best version of Harlem river blues. We used play guitar together and trade punk rock records when he would come to Texas for reunions and we got into trouble .

Some of his songs like they killed John Henry and especially desolate angel blues hits me hard. Those songs could be about him , even though he wrote them for Jack.

First I’d like to say I met the man he played on my birthday when I was 18 at my house 14 years ago and I seen him a few times after that but he was very secretive about his craft like you should be if he showed you that’s who was meant to see it you got his hair cut and even those long socks he wore all the time I’m just saying man some things you don’t share all that said you play the closest I’ve ever seen anybody play like him and im sure he’s proud somebody can Steve his dad tried hard it was close but you was taught that’s the difference just think about what showing these people is gonna do how many will slaughter his legacy I know this is sounding mean but I say this out of respect for him and his music

You’re playing the 3 finger A shape and doing that same hammer on as the E and also modifying to the A7 here, with a little sweep action at the start, aren’t you? 13:02 Slick, I’m so so used to barring for the A that this will take some finagling with my fat fingers and muscle memory. Sounds great! Thanks for this breakdown, it’s been really helpful!

Fantastic video . . . I have to ask, though, what's up with saying "capo on the 5 fifth fret", while the annotation on screen says, "capo on the 3rd fret", and you are playing with capo on the 7th fret? Doesn't change anything in terms of this picking style, of course, but it's pretty funny! :)

I play it on electric a fair bit but the style can cause tuning problems when using an one (atleast the electrics I have used). I'm always on the look out for an electric guitar that can take a bit of a beating while playing but have yet to find the right model.

@morningnewsmusic
@morningnewsmusic 2 года назад
The guitar is great, especially for the price. I’m my opinion, it can sound a bit dry at times, but that dryness sounds fantastic over blues tunes. I was playing my Martin 000X1. It’s a “budget” Martin but it’s sound has improved immensely over the 8ish years since I got it.
