You remind me of a physics teacher I had in highschool. He was the best. I had so much fun in his course, I struggled. But I told him hey I actually read the textbook, and it was fun to read, and I asked questions. And he looked at me like whaaaat? students don't read textbooks. That physics book was really well written though it was like a perfect chunk to get you to ask questions or brainstorm about it, but it was pretty light material, not AP or honors or anything. I wish I took AP but I wouldn't of had my physics teacher than, and he was the greatest!

how to study should be a subject in itself that is available to all students from age 11 onwards. good students pick up these hints as they grow up but even the best students would learn from these type of lessons. i still read passively a lot and sometimes skim whilst looking for somethng that may justify my beliefs and then realise i have not taken anything in and have to read it again. if you get it right first time it saves you so much time in long run.

If i would have managed to watch these videos by Prof. Scott earlie, confidently, my way of study, time mgmt, question prediction, exam preparation style and may be an overall way of Study cum living the life could have been easier and organised. Nevertheless, surely gonna adopt most of the things for rest of my life and I pass on most of the tricks to my kids. Simply amazing.

I went from failing 1st year uni to become the top student at the uni. This is what I did: Stop making tons of notes - its a big waste of time. Stop rewriting out your lecture notes. Write neatly to begin with. If it isnt in the lectures - it will not be on the exam. Stop wasting time over material that isnt examable. If you mainly study from the book. Be careful as the books usually cover way more material than in your lectures. Not all the material in the lectures is worth the same. Go through your lecture notes and IDENTIFY WHAT IS IMPORTANT. What is important will be about 20% of your lecture material. Your exam will be made up of 80% of IMPORTANT POINTS. I will say this again. YOUR EXAM WILL MOSTLY BE MADE UP FROM 20% OF YOUR LECTURES. If you do say 4 subjects your exams will be mostly made up from the work needed to do 80% of ONE SUBJECT. 20% of your time should be spent on the 80% of what is not important. One of the biggest mistakes students make is to spend the same time over unimportant material as they do important material. An exam is a test on what you RECALL. You are NOT being examined on what you have learnt or understood. You are being examined on what you RECALL. Get a piece of blank paper. WRITE the word RECALL on it. Then put it on the wall of your study area. Think like a marathon runner. Go at a EVEN pace. Start the semester as hard as you finish the semester. Do not start easy and build up to overwhelming before the exam. Exams are between 9 - 12am or 2 - 5pm. Practise at least 2 homework periods of 3 hours a week. Start your revision half way through the term or semester. If your semester is 10 weeks long? Start your revision off week 1 and 2 during week 5 etc. You should be ready for the exam at least 2 days before the exam. Dont cram a day before the exam. The most important thing is to sleep well. Watch out how you speak to lecturers or professors. If they like you that 45% (fail) you got "will" be turned into a 55% (pass). Also if they like you - they will approve of a supplementary exam for you if you need one. I witnessed the head of the "school" make up a very high pass mark for someone who was later named as DUX of the course. Because she had not sat for an exam. What you eat and how you sleep are the most important things when it comes to remembering anything. Get exercise. Get up and go to bed at same time. Sorry this also means Saturday. Avoid sleeping in Sunday mornings. For me the most important thing is to KEEP GOING. DONT GIVE UP. At different times I was looking at failing 4 or 5 exams. I learnt that ONE DAYS HARD WORK can change a fail into a pass. That 30 to 40% exam mark (fail) can be turned into a 55% to 70% exam mark (pass). WITH JUST ONE DAYS HARD WORK. Also if you have just failed they will offer you a supplementary exam. So there will be no need to repeat a year. If you fail at uni. Dont worry because I did. At the time it feels terrible. But over a life time it wont matter. You have decades to turn that around. Just because you are good at uni. Doesnt automatically mean you will be successful at life. Telling people the bullshit they want to hear has earnt me more money than any uni degree could. FALL IN LOVE. I met Jenny W during the first week of my second year at uni. It took me 2 years before I asked her out. What is worse than for 45 years thinking that Jenny didnt want me? 45 years later finding out SHE DID.

SUMMARY 1. Ask Question on Chapter Headings ○ Before you go through reading, look at the chapter headings first and ask questions. ○ (2-3 minutes) Use the 5 Ws and 1H: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? Then write down your questions. ○ As you run through the reading, you will see the answers to your questions and write it. § If there are questions that you haven't answered yet, then that's your key that you haven't understood it or it just doesn't connect with the topic, if you still cannot find the answer then maybe you can raise the question to your teacher. 2. Test Yourself ○ You can do flashcards ○ Fill-In the Blanks ○ True or False (Make sure you make a good lie, very convincing, do not just put false because it's the opposite of it) ○ It is important that you test yourself first before the teacher tests you, so that you'll know where you need to improve at. 3. Study with Groups ○ You can assign the member within your group to make a test for this chapter or topic then you exchange tests, when checking, make sure to explain each of them. ○ Explained what you have learned to other people (Feynman Technique) Please correct me if I'm wrong this is how I far I have remembered everything.
