In this last video I discuss "the interview" questions, possible situations and my experience with my interview in the journey to becoming an apprentice plumber with my local union.
Thanks I really appreciate the advice I never thought of the possibility of having more than one person interviewing me. Now I can prepare for the possibility.
Glad I could help. Appreciate you letting me know. And if it is for an apprenticeship, more than likely it'll be a board or panel of people, mainly the contractors and the joint apprenticeship training committee. Anyway, definitely best of these prepared and aware of what's going on. Keep us informed. Best of luck
This video calmed me down a little before my interview later this week. I’ve been searching RU-vid like crazy watching all sorts of videos. Thank you for the help!
Thanks fucking sweet! I feel you! And that's why I made this. Couldn't find anything about the interview! And if you wanna know don't show you want to learn. You'll show up on time. And you can read a measuring tape:) good luck brother keep me posted
@@JoonRhee Will do man! It’s going to be a life changer, been looking like crazy for the right trade for me. I have just a little experience with some hand tools, nothing spectacular.. I’ve helped my step dad (who is a contractor) build a few things for a house.. If they ask, should I tell them I know some things or just let them know I don’t know too much?
@@atomikwrath8707 it can be life changing for sure! And I'd be honest. Tell them what you've done and let them know you simply want more exposure to do more! They love honesty. We are straight talkers so show up looking to impress:) watch the rest of my series to be fully prepared! First impressions are huge!
Thank you for this information, i commented on one of your other videos about me deciding to join a HVAC or plumbing company non union, I recently got a interview set up with the plumbing and pipefitter union and i am trying to prepare for it im super nervous but this helps a lot thank you!
Yes I remember! Good for you! You'll make more money going to union and also either fitter or plumber. But I think your options are a little more available with plumbing but I am bias! Let me know how it goes!
Had my interview yesterday it went very good i hope I get in they told me they have other interviews to go through but that i should be able to know what I ranked in a week or two!
@@x7Shuffler7x good for you! Hope my videos helped out! All you can do is wait and that's the toughest point! At least you got an interview! Keep me posted! Woooo whooo
Thanks, your videos are really helpful! You seem like a super intelligent and educated apprentice, perhaps more than most. May I ask what were your personal reasons for wanting to become a plumber? I’ve decided to make a career change from a white collar job and I’m trying to put into words (for a potential apprentice interview) why I’m drawn to the trades and to plumbing in particular.
Matthew you are welcome brother! Glad to hear you are learning some stuff from the content:) that's quite the transition for sure. I mean I would explain to them why you've become more disinterested in your current profession and simply want to make a change. The biggest thing they will want to know is that you want to stick with it and will push through the BS. I got into it because of many reasons but mainly it was a choice that I wanted and knew I wont choose to go back. I'll only laterally move within this industry and there are soooo many opportunities. Good luck brother hope the interview goes well. Are you currently a helper?
@@JoonRhee Thanks so much for the insights! Right now I’m trying to get hired as a helper with a private company to just get my feet wet while my application for a union apprenticeship is being processed. I’m furloughed from my current job in hospitality because of COVID but I don’t really want to go back, hence the career change. I’m in my mid-30’s so I feel like I’m running out of time and I’m ready to commit 100% to the trade, see the training through to end, and become the best plumber I can be. Any other interview advice you have at all to offer would be really appreciated. Thanks man!
Had my union interview yesterday. Dressed nice, felt like I said the right things. asked them a decent amount of questions. How soon did you get a call back after your interview?
That's great to hear! Way to go and way to show him that you want it and show him that you're interested. A call back really depends on how many interviews they have to go through and how many people are interviewing for the position. I believe mine was about a week just because of all the candidates that they have to go through so it depends. But they'll get back to you for sure to let you know. At least if you made it on the list at all. Keep us informed. Congratulations!
Congratulations! That's a big part of the process. Just be yourself. Be honest and be professional. All you can do is all you can do baby. That's the luck fill us in
My experience was I had to get in and I therefore had to work my ass off to prep for the aptitude test and get all my references in order and if I were to get myself an interview I needed to make sure that I got it. I did. Maybe a little bit better than average on the aptitude test and I was their number one choice during the interview. So for me my turnaround was pretty quick. I got hired on to a contractor within 2 days and was accepted about a month later
Thanks man, helps a lot The Gospel! Jesus Christ loves you and died, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven to pay for your sin! Repent and turn to Him and you will walk in light and be saved. Read the book of John and Luke to see God's love for you!
I'm glad it helped brother. Appreciate it and in terms of religious beliefs and views politics, I would keep those more personal just because those are heavy and hard topics to bring up at work. If you want to pay her career I would just be a little more enlightened. Thanks for the comment
