SHOULDER BLADE PAIN CAUSES
Rhomboid pain tends to come from jammed rib joints, or referred pain from problems in your lower neck joints. You're posture while using phones and laptops, the way you sit on the sofa or in bed, and certain sleeping positions, are common ways to cause these problems.
HOW TO SLEEP WITH RHOMBOID PAIN
If you lie on your side and your shoulder is pushed right forward, this will distort the rib cage a lot. There's 3 alternatives to avoid this...
You can lie on your back, you can lie on the other side, or you can continue to lie on that side but roll back off your shoulder. To do this bend your top leg less than the bottom leg when lying on your side.
I explain it in slightly different way at the end of this video... • Fix Rhomboid Pain For ...
SIDE RIB DISTORTION CAUSING SHOULDER BLADE PAIN
Another way people can put their ribs out is by leaning on an arm while on the sofa, leaning on an elbow on an arms rest, or lying with your head propped on your hand. So, avoid those positions.
POSTURE CORRECTION
Rounded shoulders also put the ribs in a bad position AND a forward head posture can irritate nerves that cause rhomboid pain. So, lift your phone up (with a supported arm) when using it instead of looking down at it on your stomach. Put your phone on your pillow and lie on your side to look at it in bed.

I experience severe pain in my back. I went to the emergency and saw a doctor who recommended RMN and X-Ray. Meanwhile, I reached the conclusion that my sleeping position is the problem or at least part of the problem. For the last 3 nights, I forced myself to sleep on my back. This is difficult because my favorite positions are the ones you said are the worst: on the side, with one arm under the pillow and the upper leg in front. I woke up pain-free in the morning. I still feel pain in the evening, a sign that my problems are bigger, but it is a relief. Thank you for this video!

The pain for me Is the worst the longer I stand up and do things, like hanging out with friends or when we go to music festivals it starts getting really really bad. It's sort of like in the lower traps/shoulder blade or Teres Major area. It starts to hurt very badly after standing on my feet more than 3 hours. It's never a sharp pain but a dull ache that gets worse and worse to the point It's unbearable after lile 5 hours of simply standing around

Here's a suggestion for holding your phone better. I do lye back and look at my phone. But I use pillows to help keep me in good position. I adjust multiple pillows to keeo my neck a little more straight. But probably my best suggestion is to use pillows to prop up your arms to raise the phone up without your arms getting tired. Use thick pillows if possible. Otherwise fold a pillow in half.
