Whenever my fish food gets stale, I compost it, and use it to make homemade root tabs. I don't know how efficient they are as fertilizers, but at least they aren't totally wasted.
It’s so cute that you give them a Sunday dinner before church 😆 my family practices on Saturdays and while it wasn’t intentional I do give them nicer foods then as well
I love your videos! I'm so glad you are doing well enough to make some. Praying for your recovery! I feed a variety of flake, pellets and dried food....I'm just learning about hatching baby brine. I think I will start feeding frozen food again soon.
Haha thanks. This was totally filmed and edited before my surgery, but I didn't get a chance to publish it till after I was released from the hospital.
Thank you for sharing! It's cool to see how your process has evolved over time. I have a shrimp/tetra tank and have had to try different approaches to make sure the shrimp have enough to eat. After experiences with the fish tearing apart "veggie" wafers, I tried blanched spinach, thinking surely that there would be nothing there to interest my fish. That's the day I learned that my neons and cardinals actually love spinach! Never have they been as voracious as the first time they saw it, but they always come by to nibble as the shrimp start tearing it up. These days, I employ a variety of strategies to get my guys their food, but it mainly comes down to feeding the tank more, and just doing maintenance a bit more often.
This is so helpful! I'm just getting back into fishkeeping after 20 years away from the hobby, and I feel like I've forgotten everything! I love your schedule, too. I love to rotate food, but always fear some of the shy fish in my community tank aren't getting enough. They're so tiny it's hard to tell!
I have a betta in a community tank. She’s very peaceful and non aggressive, but she is a PIG. It doesn’t matter what the food is-veggies, algae wafers- she will eat EVERYONE ELSE’S food. About 1-2x a week I have to take her out of the tank for a few minutes to make sure my glow light tetras and African dwarf frogs get some…
My fish food for both fresh and saltwater tanks (fish food for freshwater is separate from the saltwater) last 4 months at most and I just need to restock every 2 months since the freshwater fish I own chow down on all the food which I put into large bottles so I can measure their portions. I always feed 3 to 5 times a day
I have a question for anyone. My lampeyed tetra is growing white bristles on his head and looks like a bristle nose pleco. He also as a severe mouth deformity. He is losing scales too. However, he has been like this for 3 months and he is perfectly fine, until today, which he started to lose energy. I have plenty of other fish in the same tank, and they have not experienced this ever, only ich. I also have another lamp eye tetra in the same tank and he is normal. Is this a disease or just a messed up tetra?
Is it better rotate foods daily or monthly? For example can I give the same food product every day for 3 months until it finishes and then open a new bag of a different product? Does that count as "variety" or are the intervals too long?
I definitely have way too many fish foods, but for the average hobbyist, I would say just keep 3-5 foods on hand and rotate between them every day. Kind of like how we eat different foods every day. 👍
@@GirlTalksFish ok thank you!! I've been alternating Bug Bite Flakes and Xtremw Community Crave and my fish love both. As soon as I started this rotation they started breeding again, kinda crazy how fast that happens. Going to mix in frozen when I can afford it again.
im quite new to fishkeeping, ive been keeping CPDs for 2 week and group of 5 oto for a week, and they all seem to have more rounded bellies..i wonder if im overfeeding them..the most obvious one is the otos lol i give them 2 tiny algae wafer daily, is it too much??
Good video but imagine someone keeps you in a cage for your whole life.. Fish aren't dumb they understand they feel that they have been trapped in this box for their life and they CAN'T find a way out. A human would understand when what they do to animals.. Happens to them. Aquarium are like a box of jail for every fish and they understand that. Swimming in a box for whole life.
