Deceptive deals are some of my favourite things to practice. I have spent a lot of time working on deceptive deals and I include many of the tips and strategies I’ve learned while practicing them. The second deal is a very useful move and one of the easier deceptive deals. Film yourself and practice it until it perfectly mimics your fair deal. I really appreciate you taking some time to watch this tutorial. It’s filled with details because it needs to be. There is so much that goes into convincing sleight of hand and deception. I implore you to watch it all as even if you’re more experienced, there will be something for you to take away from this. Enjoy!

Great Tutorial on a move that I am awful at and want to now spend a lot of time practicing. 3 months ago I learned the Classic Pass and am comfortable enough to now use it when performing to people-- Now, I'll be dedicating a lot of time to the 2nd deal-- this is the next move I want to get in my tool belt. Thanks!!!!!

literally the best video for second dealing i’ve seen, as someone who could already do the second deal before watching i did literally everything u do (besdies a large brief, as with my hours of pratice i’ve slowly made mine pretty small but as u said not so tiny it makes no sense) the best thing i tbink is the erdanse grip that u mentioned 100% something i did and in my opinion makes it way more easy and deceptive. Amazing video

SOOO much awesome information! Completely comprehensive, even to the point that you address dry hands and cards slipping from them. Love the "how to practice, don't just do 2nds." Like the applications you share as well. (Using 2nds as a force.) Best dry hand solution I have found is OKeefe's Working Hands cream. It's been a lifesaver for me. Thanks again for the incredible detail you provide in your vids.

I have a quick tip for anybody that's new to magic, or new to deceptive deals, and has dry skin. Something that I've noticed is that a lot of moves you try to do won't work nearly as well if your skin is too dry. And I know this sounds crazy, but what you can do is before you start your routine, just touch the pad of your thumb to the end of a tube of chap stick. Don't rub it on like you would on your lips, and don't press so hard that it crumbles...literally just touch it. It won't damage your cards, it's discreet enough that nobody will notice it on your thumb, and it makes a _huge_ difference Just something to try. 🤷‍♂️ If you struggle with sleights because of dry skin it really will help. Cheers.

Yea that’s true when people are behind you. Can’t say I perform the second deal much with people behind me since I’d likely be at a table if I’m using it. As long as it mimics your fair deal I’d say it doesn’t matter too much

Also, the push off second isn’t just for showing off, ya doink XD It’s best for dealing down face-up cards. I agree with you in that the strike is best for dealing face-down like you showed here, but that doesn’t make the push-off “obsolete” typical 20-something-year-old point-of-view lol (so many hyphens) Anywho, I really enjoy it tutorials and the sleight off content. Keep up the great content 👍🏽
@ReidFerry
@ReidFerry 2 года назад
I don’t think it’s any better for dealing face up cards, I can do a very nice strike second with face up cards that looks identical to my fairs. It’s not obsolete that was an exaggeration, but not really practical or necessary to learn imo. Don’t think this take has anything to do with my age but maybe, I’m trying to push some more modern ideologies that I believe in, magics has got to change with the times. Anyway thanks a lot for the kind words man! Really wanting to do more sleight offs but my adversary has not been following through with his videos… hopefully I’ll sort it behind the scenes or find someone else

Should say in the description, but I’m using the Madison Dealers by Daniel Madison 🤘🏻
@anthonytmein
@anthonytmein 2 года назад
I disagree with your small brief rant. The brief is the exposed gap on the TOP edge, where the second card is exposed. But the top card is still pushed to the SIDE by a decent, natural gap. Bc you don’t thumb the card downwards in a natural deal, like you do in a strike 2nd, you thumb it to the side, towards the other hand. Think about it: you can have a small brief (top), and still thumb the top card over (sideways). In the strike 2nd, your deck hand thumbs the top card down, pivoting on the bottom corner. But in a natural deal, the card is thumbed to the side without pivoting. That’s why a small brief is so important.
@ReidFerry
@ReidFerry 2 года назад
Nah I still disagree. Small brief just makes your life harder for no reason, I definitely still pivot the card off the base of my thumb exactly the same way I do when I do my seconds (I just tested it). Your fairs and seconds should look identical, in my opinion that’s the most important. So if your pushing off the cards differently then I’d look into your technique
