I’ve been running fixed idler for about 500 hours now and it’s been working amazingly and showing no signs of wear on the bearings or anything. Absolute insane amount of grip too, no slipping on the filament up until it skips

another benefit of fixed idler is that you can set the spur gear tooth mesh to the ideal amount. They have a pitch diameter of 8.5mm. Adding a little for tolerance and 8.6mm between shaft centers seems to be ideal. Optimal gear meshing should be ideal for extrusion quality and wear life.

@@clborrello ah the fixed idler fighter himself. Yep it seems to help with extrusion consistency and reliability especially between different filaments

really glad I found this channel. It’s helping me so much with my own printing. THANKS Not sure I would have ever found that but about shaping the tip of the filament before removing

Thanks much for this tip! Something I've been wondering about for a while, and it's so easy to do

Good Video Vez!! I had that problem with My ERCF so ... I'm gonna check this parameter!

I love seeing that hollowed out X gantry! Also, thanks for the video. With Orbiter 1.5 I had to properly learn how to tension and it would be a real shame if I Destroyed this nice peace of engineering with too much tension :(

Running too much tension will also require more motor power..so not good

I always ship the end of the filament to create a point before loading it into the extruder/hotend

Can you make a video on how to fix the clicking issue while extruding filament?

Could you create a video doing and analyzing Mihais test? It seems that the extruder works awesome, but do the consistency claims hold up? 😁

You could blur that part at 4:40 and it will seem dirtier than it is.

Do you use this method for tpu also I find 95A tpu is pretty slippery and is pretty easy to prevent from happening?

I tried this method and found the right amount of tension but on 1 print, the screw was vibrated loose because there wasn't enough backforce provided by the spring.

How does the extruder work with flexibles? Some people claim it is not so good due to gear design.

I printed a tpu benchy in 5min 😂. If you put too much pressure and try to push more plastic than your hotend can melt, it will twist the filament...but if you run it properly i have no issue

Is there a model I can print to extend the lever so that I can open it manually? I like to do "hotpulls" whenever I change filament. Essentially manually forcing down the filament quickly until I feel a resistance that tells me that cold filament has reached the bottom of the hotend. I then quickly pull it out and it removes 95-99% of any filament left in the hotend. Repeat and it's clean. Thank you for your work, love your videos!

What size is the bearing please? I am one of those guys.

maybe write a g-code at your end script so it will extrude, and then fast retract the filament from the nozzle. Then it is ready for filament change if you would want that next time.
