How to prune climbing roses on an arch - Tutorial - Garden Advice - Rose Garden - David Austin Roses 

I train my climbers as horizontally as possible, I do the same with ramblers. Here where I live (Central Europe) we do not prune until mid-March at the earliest, we usually wait until forsythia is in bloom. We want to avoid frost damage etc. This week it is going to be about minus 15 Celsius here and everything is covered with a thick layer of snow.

I grew a short climbing rose called Alibaba and that one flowered right down to the ground. Happy gardening.

I am going to try this because I just have long canes that grow so fast but no roses.

@Darren Harwood ...when cutting your rose branch cut at an angle away from the bud, so water doesn't sit on the bud and rot it away..

Found the pruning method very useful but i must admit I'm very confused as to when to prune roses cos every RU-vid gardener is suggesting different months to prune roses😞

I worry about people getting scratched by the thorns as they walk through. Do you keep it trimmed away on the inside?

Hi Darren loved the video but found myself hyperventilating when i saw that you just ignored all the leaves that had blackspot on them😮 i have many roses planted in containers and go around each evening with pruners in one hand and a pocket full of anti bacterial wipes and inspect each rose for two major things, in my opinion, and that is firstly the start of blackspot which i will remove at first site and secondly the dreaded sawfly larvae 🤬 when i first started to grow roses i didn't know about these vile little things and they were eating leaf after leaf and getting fatter by the day until they were noticeable to the naked eye (i thought they were ordinary caterpillars 😮) but i soon learned otherwise and now i know what to look for and hopefully so do the birds🫣😊
