Orchid was my main as well in KI1. I think all the characters were very unique at least in playstyle. She was devestating when you learned how to link combos. Wish I could remember the max Ultra I used to be able to get. 91' Street Fighter II 92' Mortal Kombat 94' Killer Instinct It's crazy to think about all of that happening in that span of time. If you’re running MAME just use TAB and turn on invincibility and infinite time. Makes it way easier to practice combos :)

Any chance that there is a full tutorial your working on for orchid? Or a video dedicated specifically on the shadow moves of the characters. How become active only after a combo breaker, how long they last, how much more damage they do, how they effect the ultra, etc.

After the last quick punch auto double before the ultra you can add a hold/release ichi with MP to add 1 extra hit for a 49 hit

im 34, my mom bought me the nes special edition with killer instinct. lets just say thats what got me into fighting games. i was so good at this game that i had a full notebook of moves, ultimates, ultras for each characters. i played this game on hard and would beat each ai on hard. no one beated me on this game when i played it hard. i slept and ate on this. i was 10 years old. memories. now im garbage on this game 😂

Lots of quarters, experimenting, and getting my butt kicked by other players in the arcade ultimately lead me to that combo. Finally perfected it on the SNES. I also found out Cinder had an infinite combo! But sadly the arcade updated the machine before I could try it.

IMPORTANT #1: it took me a while to figure out there is a small, but important, correction on your... "Leave a gap, B,F+FK, B+QP, B,F+FK, B+QP, B,F+FK, B+QP, B+MK, B+QP, B, F+FK, B+QP, B, F+MP Ultra then juggle with projectile(s)." (if you follow this precisely it won't work because the MK won't trigger the backflip that occurs in your video which is critical for the combo to work) it's actually the following instead (as this will reliably trigger the spinning backflip as the way you have it written, it outright won't work since to trigger the backflip you must do 'F,B+MK' (forward must be charged a little))... "Leave a gap, B,F+FK, B+QP, B,F+FK, B+QP, B,F+FK (continue to hold forward!), QP, then B+MK (which triggers the backflip), B+QP, B,F+FK, B+QP, B,F+MP Ultra then juggle with projectile(s)." a bit more details on my method to reliably trigger the backflip... I would say the most difficult part is the timing involved on how you do the last precise "B,F+FK (hold forward),QP, then shift to B+MK" to trigger the backflip as I can kind just do it. but as far as the precise part, I can't say for sure, but I would say you can 'probably' do it more like this in a bit more detail... "B,F+FK (hold forward), QP (after pressing QP and the buttons action starts to register on screen shift to back), B+MK" etc and it 'should' do the backflip and then proceed with the rest of the combo which is a bit easier than this part. note: if someone wants to practice ONLY the backflip part, just turn on infinite health (Tab > Cheat) for both players and the round timer so it never ends and then just do a initial "B,F+FK, QP" while doing the hold forward and then shift to B+HK to get the spin going and once you get this down put the game back to it's normal state and then proceed to try the Ultra. I don't even need to tap the buttons more than once for each move as you get a feel for the timing of when to press it, although like you said, some people may prefer to tap the buttons more than once, which I suppose depending on what kind of player you are, may help. but I only hit the buttons once as once you figure out the timing of when to press the buttons it's actually easier/less confusing that way if you ask me. but given this video it appears you must do a combo breaker in order to get the three projectiles to use in the ultra, so that's not really standard as I was wondering why after doing the 45-hit ultra it would ALWAYS just throw one projectile instead of three in my case but I learned from another video (as I did not realize that's why yours worked as I just assumed you wanted to show us how to enable easy combo breakers and did not realize that's critical so Orchid throws three projectiles instead of just one). so while your 48-hit combo is legit, under normal circumstances (since you can't depend on getting a combo breaker) 46-hit is the normal max you can get with what you are doing here. IMPORTANT #2: keep in mind he only makes contact with the initial 'B,F+FK' with 1-hit! ; also, I was having problems initially doing the Ultra because I, using the 'Tab > Cheat', was practicing with the round timer turned off (this should not matter on round timer though), but more importantly, if you set it to 'infinite energy' on both characters (like I do when practicing with player 1 and player 2) you CANNOT do a Ultra (since the round never ends and, more importantly, your energy bar will always remain full which will ALWAYS stop Ultra's from occurring), which I did not know. it appears you can ONLY do a Ultra when you are about to win the match when the opponents energy bar is in the red flashing state in order to finish out that combo into a ultra. on a side note... I figured out how to get into the low 30's hits (I think 31-hit/32-hit) doing a variation of what you are doing with your general combo here which works at any point. like for example... "Leave a gap, B, F+FK, B+QP, B,F+FK, B+QP, B,F+FK (continue to hold forward!), QP, then B+MK (which triggers the backflip), B+QP, B,F+MK (which will hit with batons into the air), then projectile juggle. or swap out the 'B,F+MK' with 'B,F+QK' (which will kick the person into the air instead) then projectile juggle. even if you don't 'leave a gap' and hit with all three initial hits, you can still get more than enough hit combos and after a certain point the damage stops anyways, so it's more for show at that point. but thanks for your video, clearly helpful overall ;) p.s. I play this on a MAME 0.242 on Linux (although I am sure recent Windows versions will be okay to as, if I have to, I can run the Windows version of MAME on Linux to) with no stutter during vs screen (which one needs a the proper 'chd' file (95,627,918 is precise size) so there is no stutter here) and with a X-Arcade dual-stick (which I bought sometime in the 2000's decade) as I have the old serial port version but I have the official adapter to convert it to USB. it's also easier to configure the game on recent MAME versions vs older ones given the button naming is a bit more proper (i.e. 'P1 - High Attack - Quick' etc for the punches and 'P1 - Low Attack - Quick' etc for kicks for player one) vs the old MAME with 'button 1' etc. if a person needs to configure their controls, which they likely will if you got a controller etc, you simply start game and do 'Tab > Input (this machine)'.

Right before you pop her ultra you can squeeze in a baton charge which results in you holding back for just the right amount of time before hitting forward and med punch...used to do it all the time...just gotta time it...not to mention I do that baton charge pretty much right before every finisher during the match...

How do you combo break with orchid? I know how but many times she won't break it

It's really none of my business but you can definitely pull off the 34 killer anytime throught the match (given you have a breaker) not just at the end of rounds. Also you can make that 48 ultra a 49 pretty easily by adding in a \ | / mp right before the ultra input

I can hit opponent with last leg of cartwheel, press light punch, then repeat two more times, but when I go to press back plus medium kick it just kicks the opponent instead of her doing a back flip that I can press quick punch after into the final B+F HK, LP and then initiate ultra. I’m so annoyed!!!
