How to Put Sugar Gliders in a Bonding Pouch 

Crabbing isnt as "bad" as it sounds its a bit like humans getting a bit huffy rather the violent if ya get my drift.

I would say that, since he does have an unfortunate history, I would slow down the bonding pouch process. If he's too nervous and scared, then I wouldn't want him to associate the bonding pouch as a "bad thing." I recommend hanging the bonding pouch in his cage, perhaps with some treats in there, and letting him discover it and associate it with both his "home" and with snacks. :)

Thanks for the help! When I first got him he was pretty much wild with fear, biting and acting aggressive but with patience and understanding I've earned his partial trust and I can pet him without him biting me. Small steps! Hopefully one day he'll be relaxed and feel loved!

I figured out that HE was actually a SHE was apparently much older than I thought...! We had her up until just a few months ago actually when she died of old age, or would be my best guess.... We took her to the vet prior and she was healthy except for her mean streak. She finally came out of her box and let people touch her but she never fully got over her nervousness, she stopped biting people (mostly, there were still some very rare occurrences when she got super nervous or upset). my 9 yr old niece ended up naming her Skyrat, she was the saddest out of all of us when she passed. Skyrat was a lot more difficult to work with and earn her trust than I imagined, it was worth it though. She was a loved member of the family, I just wish I could have gotten her earlier when she was being abused instead of AFTER the fact.

It depends a lot on the gliders and on how much time you spend with them. It can take weeks or even months. If you are not doing tent time yet, i'll suggest you to start, its a great bonding metod. You shold also join this facebook group "sugar gliders, learning togheter" if you have not done so yet. It's very active and you can find a lot of great tips.

Actually if you have so much time to spare for 1 SG it would be enough , SG will need companion to live, as long as you can play with them then you dont need 2 gliders, but 2 gliders are okay too xD

If you actually can devote HOURS of time to them, you might find you will want more than one. ;)

2 NEUTERED males, a NEUTERED Male and a female, or 2 females. Unneutered Male sugar gliders will fight each other or constantly reproduce with a female sugar glider.

You should get two or else yours can get seriously depressed

No the mesh part is so that they can breath and if you put the mesh part toward you, first there would be no reason for it and two you'd be blocking the mesh so it would get hot inside the fleece and the sugar glider could possibly have a heat stroke

Also, I don't think my mother would like to have two Sugar Gliders, but I mean... It would be nice... I really think my mom would like to have a little company sometimes... Oh, and my siblings would be really fascinated by it! I'm the youngest out of 6, so we're always curious about stuff. +Madalyn Dempsey it's recommended that you buy two but it's not a life or death answer. If you will spend a decent amount of time then 1 should be ok

Howdy, Destiny! They *can* be loud, and usually that loud sound is "crabbing." That's their annoyed/scared/grumpy sound, and it's been described as sounding a bit like an electric pencil sharpener. They can also "bark," which is more of a general communication noise, and there's a bit of chirping there as well. Generally, if they're being loud, that means that they either feel unsafe, or that something might be wrong. Our happiest gliders here at The Pet Glider are rather quiet guys and gals.

+destiny rivera cork is a good chew toy for gliders as well. lots of etsy shops sell cork toys. I believe blue bonnet SG shop has a few cork toys.

No, but they only make barking noises when they are stressed, uncomfortable, or scared. Sometimes they do it for no reason, but if they keep doing it excessively to the point were it becomes disturbing, I'd recommend you take it to the vet.

Two. They are colony animals, and need friends. It's also easier to bond with them, when they have a friend to help them feel less scared. :)

Madalyn Dempsey The one thing I usually warn people about (and why most give up their gliders) is the time and patience they require! Bonding can take months, maybe up to a year, sometimes more. And it's difficult, because the whole time they are scared of you; they scratch, bite, and crab. They also aren't very cuddly things; most of them don't like to be held that much. Which can make things like, clipping their nails (which you need to do every 1.5-2 weeks) pretty difficult. They are also kind of expensive. Their toys (which need to be glider-friendly; lots of rules regarding toys) are kinda expensive, and so are vet bills. A lot of times, you'll need to go to the emergency vet; when something is wrong, it goes wrong FAST. It's also difficult to find exotic vets in the area sometimes; so prepare 2 vets, and an emergency vet before adopting any gliders. You can expect to spend $1000-$2000 getting your gliders and all their things ready at first. And neuter your gliders, if you get them young. (ALWAYS research WHO you are buying from) I'd suggest buying the cage and all the toys, pouches, snacks, etc. FIRST then, the gliders. So they come to you with their home prepared! It's can be tiring, honestly. But, if it's the right kind of pet for you and your family, it's a real reward! :) Just wanted to include some things that people forget/don't talk about when they are considering adding some gliders to the family!

John O'Brien anyone in the glider community knows that some vets are payed from pocket pets to say the information they want they say a lot of lies just to get you to buy from them I rescue gliders myself I just got a 8 year old female she is very depressed she has been by herself her whole life now that she's with a cage mate you can defiantly see the difference even some vets can get their information wrong
