Hi.. Thanks.. Your video inspired me and I just fixed one Canon S100 with lens error problem. I used cotton swab with contact cleaner and cleaned the contact surfaces of the small film cable of the lens. Then I reconnected the small film cable to the socket on the motherboard, the lens movement resumed perfectly afterwards. Also it is noted that the fixing method may not applicable to all situations as same problem may arise in case the film cable is broken inside the lens.

Had it for a few years now, the issue has never reoccured since I set the camera to single point af-s with the largest focus point 👍 - no lens error message for about 14 months now.

Inspired, I took mine apart, blew it with an air duster, put it back together and it was still squeaking and does not work. I also used acetone on the side of the lens and stuck bits of paper into the gaps to try and clean it out.

You lift a little flap once you are in the camera. What are you attempting to access and spray with the condensed air?

I was getting black pictures on my similar camera. I realised it's called a "shutter stuck" problem. To fix, I opened the battery bay. I kept the battery in, and removed the memory card. I blew hard, and then tried to take a picture (or might have done it simultaneously, don't remember). And voila! it worked

I recorded in autoscooter with my camera. I got lens error after a BUMP to another car, after restarting camera, it worked again. I recorded further and no errors anymore, but i wont record again with my camera in a autoscooter. Can u say me sure if anything still works? I can record, zoom , sharp, .... so i think nothing is broken happily.

It's a known issue. Canon fix the camera free of charge. Mine was out of warranty and canon just fixed my camera for free. Taking it apart and blowing air into the camera will not fix it. Lol

suzzzyy P. Call canon and tell them you have lens error message. Then they will sent you a shipping label. They will ask you for the serial number of the camera.
