Did you wake up one morning with Corydoras eggs all over your aquarium? No prob!
Here are a couple little things and tips I've picked up on in regards to caring for Corydoras fry! Hopefully I've done some good in this video (unlike my previous one... shame shame) and you know a little bit more about how to properly raise these quirky little fish. Are you planning on breeding Corydoras fry? What is your favorite Corydoras?
Thank you so much for watching!

I am currently using a finnex breeder box to hatch the eggs and then I let them go into the 50LowBoy the box is connected to so they stay in the same water but the LowBoy is set up with sand and made to grow algae and other microorganisms for the fry and I also have Ricefish fry in there as well and it works well for me.

I just watched Aquascaping Cube channel on his personal experience trying to get Corys to start breeding. Yours is now presenting some additional information...so happy it popped up on my feed. It's the first time I saw your channel pop up so I've subscribed and looking forward to more notifications. I love my Corys. I have Albino, Pepper, Aeneas gray corydora and my one Panda Cory I have. I don't believe they've ever bred. Don't know why but anyway ... Do you have any specific foods you can recommend like brands or types? I feed algae wafers and fluval bottom feeder food...but never hurts to find more

Thank you! 😊 Congrats with your new babies 🎉 You can keep them is as big of a tank as you want, really. As long as they can get to food fine and theres no other bigger fish to eat them. I have mine in a 5g right now and do water changes once a week, theres only about 12 fry so it's quite empty though. Also, I always do water changes from my main tank 😁 it's easier on the fry. Let me know how raising them goes pls 😆

@JillsFishRoom
@JillsFishRoom 4 года назад
Awee thank you so much! 💙 I'm always glad to help when I can. It depends 😊 If you have common Corydoras (albino, bronze, etc) it is very simple. My albinos just spawn because I have them in ideal water conditions. Other people can get their Corydoras to spawn by feeding them a nice variety of food like bloodworms and high quality sinking pellets. Corydoras tend to spawn early in the morning so another good way to get them in the mood is to do a late night water change a few degrees cooler than usual. This would simulate fresh rainfall which is a queue for breeding in the wild. The more rare the Corydoras are, typically means the harder they are to breed. What kind do you have/are you planning on getting? They can also be kind of testy if they are in an aquarium they feel unsafe in (i.e. aggresive tank mates, high foot traffic area of the house). I want to record a whole vid now because there is so much to explain 😂 I hope this helped a little though! I'm lucky because my tap water has a good PH already so I just fill up a bucket and put water conditioner in. You could also set out water for a couple of days so it would reach room temp and not have to use water conditioner. I'm too lazy for that though 😅 I have a little vid on Corydoras catfish care if you are interested. I appreciate you tuning in!

Do you start with shallow water or is the 5 gallon full? My pepper corydoras just hatched yesterday and there’s so much info and one thing I read said they will drown in deep water?!?! Due to how they absorb O2. So now I’m like do I empty half the water. I know you said more water easier to care for. Oh my. Sorry hope your fry are all doing great. Info 5gallon tank with Java moss bare bottom and air filter daily water changes.
@JillsFishRoom
@JillsFishRoom 3 года назад
Hi Irene! Congrats with your babies :) I loove peppered cories. I've actually heard that as well, but I PERSONALLY have never had a problem with my water level high, I've always just had decent water aeration. If I were you, I would fill my tank 3/4ths of the way up just to be safe. 😄 That's what I'm going to start doing. But I wouldn't be too worried about it. My babies did great though :) They all grew up decently big and I sold them to some nice gentleman. Also, If you fill a 5 gallon to the top and have small babies in it, you call pull off doing water changes once every two days 🤩

Hi! Sorry it took long to respond 😕 I'm on vacation right now with VERY limited internet. Baby brine is the VERY best food to start fry out on. I'll usually feed my babies until a month or a month and a half but a lot of breeders will feed cory babies brine until they're 3+ weeks old ☺️ then you can give them regular old sinking pellets.

However from the colour of some eggs i can say that some do start to develop and are fertile but develop fungus or will stay around 8 days without hatching with no fungus but thats if i put methaline blue. Hi! I hope I might get an answer here I've been trying for about a year now to figure this out lol Okay so I have Panda Cories and they started laying a few eggs sometime last year, so I've tried leaving the eggs and fry in my big 20 gallon tank with the adults and just leaving them be and they died so I thought I'd put them in a breeder net IN the big tank, same thing they kept dying. So while ago I got myself a tub to make a fry tank out of, put a sponge filter in there with moss and some plants floating around. My eggs always hatch and the fish last a few days maybe up to a week but then they die and I'm not sure why! I don't see any fungal issues on them or the eggs and the most recent baby that died had a full belly of food so I think I'm feeding them enough. Is there anyone else having this issue? Is it just panda cories? I'm so lost! I want these poor babies to live! Thanks!

Yes actually! It would really be a small amount but if your tank is heavily planted / has a lot of hiding places, then you could end up with some random adults showing up 🙂 They'll take longer to grow because they would be competing for food of course.
