My cory fry hatch in 3 days every time. This is the first time I've had any survive for more than a few hours after hatching. My last group was 5 days ago. About 80 eggs laid and about 30 hatched. Currently all in a tumbler about to move to a grow out tank. I'm hoping for a good amount of them to grow up. These will be my first & I'm so excited & looking at other videos for guidance. Thanks for a great video!

Im here because my dads corys randomly had eggs, they were moved from a 20 gallon to a 55 gallon this month and my dad does water changes with hose water. I guess they became of breeding age and the recent water change got them excited. Now i have to figure out how to raise the babies
@celticbarry9877
@celticbarry9877 8 месяцев назад
My corys lay eggs almost every water change I do, I think its because I absolutley blast water in like a rainstorm x5 I attatch a hose to my shower and it comes out at the speed of like spraying down your car to clean it and thats how I fill my tank. I also spray it onto the top of the water as if I put the hose in it just knocks sand everywhere and uproots all the plants. Because its on a shower I try to keep it similar temperature but sometimes its too cold or hot and I don't really bother - I do 50% water changes and keep the tanks at 25c so wether the water coming out is 32c or 18c it only ever raises or drops the temperature by about 3-4c, I feel like you can raise or drop the temperature by as much as even 5c either way and fish dont care neither even do shrimp which are seen as fragile.
@shannarafryer3111
@shannarafryer3111 8 месяцев назад
@@celticbarry9877 I have shrimp and as long as the temperature changes aren’t too large or too frequent they don’t really care. When I had a heater in the tank I used room temp or cold water since I let it sit out on the floor before pouring it it in. Then when I took the heater out I didn’t slowly lower the temps then take it out. I just took it out and let the temps drop to whatever they dropped to. Anyway my dad stopped using the hose and now the egg production has slowed a bit. I’ll tell him to use it and keep it a little cold like you do so he can get eggs more often like he wants
@nathanhoveyaquatics
@nathanhoveyaquatics Год назад
I've been told and have witnessed doing cold water changes works great. I can't get colder water than my tanks at the moment due to extreme heat but I unplug any in tank heaters I have running and in a couple days they'll breed. I've had salt n pepper Cories and Panda Cories breed for me several times doing this. Edit yes I also start feeding frozen blood worms to spark the breeding mode.

If you don't want the hassle of raising the fry yourself just make sure you have a big forest of Guppy grass in the tank and some duck weed. Put some plant food in once a week. Throw a couple of almond leaves in the Guppy Grass and some micro worms once a day and you'll have little Cory's in 4 weeks or so
