Hi Phil! I really enjoyed this video & the tips. I must say one thing that is super scary about applying to a Clinical Psych program is the material & reading. I literally say to myself am I going to let reading books & articles get in the way of my dreams but this was super honest, real and practical tips approaching reading. So Thanks for that.

Summary: how to read 700 pages worth of research papers - don't read the papers; only read the abstracts. How to read 700 pages worth of books - don't read the books; only read the teacher's PowerPoint. How to study for the test - read all the pages and books. Got it :)

What happens if they want you to do the readings before they post the lectures ?

Good question! Sometimes you might ask for them to post before, if thats not an option you could see if there are certain themes or points that they like to focus on in the lecture. That could clue students in to what to focus on when they do the readings on their own. This is really tricky, but i found the better i know my professor and what they seem to talk a lot about the better I’m keyed into what to take notes on when i do the readings. Hope that helps!

@@philsguidetopsyd so far I've been pretty onto of my reading for 5 of my classes but can't get to the 6th (stats) how important is it to read the statistics reading do you think? I'm in my second semester of my first year

Great question, it really depends on the student. I’ve seen a vast array of what helps, sometimes trial and error could help
