Nice. A well-covered table is essential for play. Especially the pocket finish.

Thanks for making the video. Picked up my first table, a oversized 8’ Brunswick Madison, gentleman in our church bought new in the late 70’s or early 80’s. Not a scratch on it. 1” Italian slate sticker on the bottom. The Aramith balls were in need of a cleaning. Lots of oxidation. The Aramith restore and cleaner 2 bottle kit worked miracles. Yellow is gone. They look brand new. Mirror finish is back

This video is so under rated. It’s the only video I’ve found that has accurately and concisely explained how to do the cloth. There are so many secrets revealed here it’s not even funny. Can’t give you enough credit on a video well done. Thanks a lot. Keep it up.

I just want to say thank you for your videos. I bought a 1976 Brunswick Viscount from Facebook a few weeks ago. It looked to be in great shape in the ad. When I got there it was completely disassembled. The slate had been packed by pros. I was assured that everything was in great shape. I know realize that the seller either didn’t know what was going on with the table or he just lied. After talking with him I believe he just had no clue what shape it was in. But with your videos I was able to diagnose the issues and get in as proper condition as I can without rebuilding the wood rails completely. I just finished rebuilding the rubber and re-covering the rails. With your help they look almost professionally done. I felt it was worth the investment because I only paid $200 for a slate table. Again Thank You!

Thanks for all the info. It'll really come in handy on my current project. But I gotta tell ya a story. I recently recovered, a table, rails and all and installed new cushions/rubbers. On my last rail I wasn't paying attention and put the cover on inside out. It added an interesting technique to the game cause if you try to bank off that rail, the forward spin of the ball will climb that rail like a monster truck. I'm restoring a 2 year of American Heritage Table now and my work has to be perfect this one. Thanks.

Just wanted to leave a comment and say thank you for taking the time to make these great videos. I'm in an area without a reputable table installer and these have been invaluable tutorials in making me comfortable with tackling moving and setting up a table by myself.

Doug your videos are wonderful! Thank you so much. I have learned a lot! I recently bought, moved and recovered an 8 foot Cannon table. I used the old felt to cut out rail strips and practiced re-covering the rails with pieces of old cloth. By the time I made it to my fourth rail I was ready to get out the new cloth. The Table Looks Fantastic!!!

Mr Jiles, Greetings from Southern California! I wanted to be sure to leave a comment, as it’s the least I can do for the incredible skilled craftsmanship shared here and in several other videos of yours. I jokingly say that I was raised on a pool table because pool has been a big part of my life since the age of 3. Heck some of my earliest memories of bonding with my father and grandfather were on the table when I was just tall enough to get a house cue atop the table. I’ve had the pleasure of conversing with and learning from many wise men that taught me countless valuable life lessons. Nobody has ever taken the time with me to show me the skilled craft that goes into the recovery of a pool table and at 38 I have decided to take on a complete restoration for what is to become my house table. Naturally I involved my 4 year old son in the process and of course I had to get Dad and grandfather here to supervise and criticize 😂. Anyhow, I thought you might like to know that your videos are what gave me the courage to take on this feat. 4 generations gathered around my laptop as we watched this particular video at least a dozen times, and likely had several hundred start/stop/rewind moments, but, the 6th and final rail is complete and I’m ready to move on to the bed of the table. I’m attempting to add a few photos below. Cheers and thank you again for sharing your skill and craftsmanship! share.icloud.com/photos/0175zn0jIhWbF5w9xl8ARsd2w share.icloud.com/photos/08fTZYRes5kIwBLmoS7ecqswA share.icloud.com/photos/02aXjRvMudGJHokFZIWENXGyw share.icloud.com/photos/01eX9dOrESY6AlIQFp0tvDcnA

Other than your folds in the side pockets, looks like you did a fairly decent job! Great going! It does get easier with practice and experience. So, if ever you have the opportunity to do another table, take it! I think you'll do even better! Cheers!

Regarding FEATHERSTRIP (FS): I have a long, very skinny, flat-blade screwdriver that fits perfectly in the FS groove. It is great for getting under really snug FS and working it out without breaking it. REPLACING FS can be a pain because neither the groove nor the FS profile is standardized, and replacement FS from your supplier may not be a good fit. When you do find quality FS, buy a bunch of it, and hide it in a safe place for future jobs.

I watched your video of coin operated pool table recover and now I’m wondering how you decide when you fold the felt at the corners or you take your “elephant” approach
@CreativeRestorations
@CreativeRestorations 3 года назад
I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you referring only to coin-op tables?
@toohotcp
@toohotcp 3 года назад
@@CreativeRestorations thanks for your wildly quick reply! That was what I was talking about. I imagine it’s the different type of bumpers. I just finished a coin operated table using your video (super helpful BTW) and I thought folding the corners on this one was just different
@CreativeRestorations
@CreativeRestorations 3 года назад
Yeah. It's two different upholstery techniques for two different types of rails. Coin-op tables don't use feather strips. So, the cloth gets attached completely different than a home-type table. You can see from the two videos that the rails are completely different. Understanding how the cloth "bends" when doing upholstery will help determine the best way to avoid wrinkles. The "elephant ears" technique is strictly used in coin-op type rails.
@Zeiram20
@Zeiram20 2 года назад
is it required to take the rail off to do this?
@allenph2005
@allenph2005 2 года назад
The center pocket method is easier to do. Can I apply the center pocket method to all the corner pockets since I'm not good at getting those wrinkles behind?

Is U23 bumpers the standard for 7' bar style tables? I'm confused on what I may need. Thanks for any info.
@CreativeRestorations
@CreativeRestorations 3 года назад
Coin operated tables have been fitted with a variety of rubber profiles over the years. U23, K55, and K66 are all fairly common. You have to measure to see which one you have. Check out this link for the measurements of the most common rubber profiles: www.seyberts.com/pool-table-rail-rubbers/standard-pool-table-rail-rubber/

I'm about to recover my table for the first time with new worsted wool. The old cloth seemed to be the same texture on both sides. I read that worsted is put down fuzzy side down and smooth on top. It just seems strange to have such a smooth surface compared to the old cloth. Am I reading the instructions correctly? The fuzzy side of the cloth seems more like the top side of my old cloth. Also, when covering the rails it seems like my feather strips are below the rail even after the cloth is folded over. Shouldn't everything sit level with the rail? Will it hurt anything? Thanks for any info.

Depends on the table. Some aren't meant to come apart. If they're glued and stapled together, you probably can't recover it. I have seen some that can come apart. If that's the case, then, you can.
