I have had trouble with plate rims for ages, I cannot wait to try these techniques. I’m so grateful for your videos, I’ve leaned so much and they’re always enjoyable to watch as well, thank you 🙏 😊

I wish so badly I had watched this a long time ago!! I have been making this sooo hard on myself!! Your technique will totally change the way I refine my pieces. I’ve always hated using the sure form because it gouges the clay so much but I see how much easier it is to use. Thank you SOO MUCH!!

I also noticed that I am doing so much of my refining right after I make the item when it is still very wet! I have learned all I know about handbuilding from RU-vid and books, no classes yet, that would have helped so much I’m sure but everything has been closed. Thanks again.

I sure enjoy watching your videos. I throw as well as handbuild but handbuilding is my favorite. ❤

Would love to have a tour of your pottery studio. :P What do you think is a good layout? Busy making some decisions for my own little hobby space. Thanks for the vids!

I love watching your videos!! You have taught me so much about pottery!! I have a question if you don't mind. I am using Amaco flux and it is not running and making the dips, that are so pretty. I put on 3 coats of it. Am I firing hot? I go to 1975 degrees and then I hold it at 1600 degrees because I heard that it helps with the drips.

Without looking at it it’s very tricky to diagnose…

What if my clay has grit that’s exposed after I reform it?
@JaneScottCeramics
@JaneScottCeramics 5 месяцев назад
Mmmm, probably means you have sponged it a lot - try getting a really flexible rubber kidney onto it and press that grog back into the surface of the clay. 🤗

How to you get your plates to dry flat? Mine always curl up!
@JaneScottCeramics
@JaneScottCeramics 3 года назад
Dry them slowly and don’t make them too thin and you can always place a wooden batt on top to keep it flat whilst drying as well... 👍🏼 good luck! 😁

I just discovered you and I haven't seen all your videos yet. I want to make a set of slab plates and I would like to know how to solve the foot of the pieces when glaze them. Should I use wax on the base? Thanks for your detailed explanations. They are very useful in times of pandemic, when many of us had to drop out of school. Your spontaneity is lovely! Hugs from Madrid! 🙏❤️🙏

Hi There, mmmm, yes the base - well I just don’t glaze the base at all - i quite like the combination of matt and glazed surfaces - i never use wax because i don’t really use dipping glazes much... i mainly use a fabulous brush on glaze that is super quick to apply with a big floppy brush as its such a lovely consistency... Thank you for your kind comment and I love Spain so much - wish i was there right now!

@@JaneScottCeramics Thank you very much.We're in the same page. I bought an oven very recently (still brand new) and I try to focus on the precautions I should take. Come to Spain asap, enjoy and give us a master class!!!! ❤️
