-- How To Release Worry And Anxiety From Your Body --
Most of the time, when we worry, we’re sent to someone who helps us get our thoughts in order -- a therapist or counselor, for example. Worry is typically considered to be a mental disorder born of “wrong thinking” or a pessimistic outlook.
But most people who try to “think positively” find that the worried thoughts and feelings just creep back in minutes or even seconds later.
If you’re plagued with chronic fear and stress, you may wonder how to stop worrying. It’s true that living in a constant state of anxiety is not only unpleasant, but it also sabotages your happiness, relationships, physical health and can even impact your work.
In this video, I talk about how we store worry and anxiety in our bodies and how anxiety causes not only muscle aches and pains but also life-threatening illnesses such as cardiovascular disease.
I then give you a simple practice that anyone can start using today to release worry and anxiety from your body so that your muscles relax and you feel less stress on a day to day basis.
About Sukie Baxter
I help you rewire your brain for greater health, happiness and success -- and unlike most methods for changing limiting stories and negative beliefs which focus primarily on changing conscious thoughts, my work uses embodiment practices so that you not only think differently -- you ARE different. These changes are deep, biological and highly effective.
I have fifteen years of experience in clinical practice helping people to heal pain, stress and tension in their bodies so that they can experience more freedom in their lives. I’m the author of Perfect Posture for Life and the founder of WholeBodyRevolution.com, an online informational site for healthy posture, movement and aging.
I have traveled the world to study with masters in mindful movement, integrative bodywork, trauma healing, strength and conditioning, shamanism and energy medicine. Blending elements from all of these disciplines, I’ve developed my signature Nerve Method™ to free people from the stress and trauma that form the deep roots of pain and tension.

Well, I must admit, I almost left this Video just when it got started when you began talking at the harm stress and anxiety can cause. (diseases and whatnot) Whilst I understand that this may be true - it’s not what an already anxious or worried person wants to hear; it’s always a bad way to start a Video that is meant to help people stop worrying - it just gives them more to be anxious about! :-) However, I stuck with it, and I found your advice very helpful, and so just a word of caution for many I have found that want to help people that usually begin by saying the harm your stressed state can do you, it’s like when someone is unable to sleep, and then someone explains how it is detrimental to their health. It’s not helpful (however true) and will scare many away unintentionally. Thanks for the great Video!
@jesusprincess
@jesusprincess 2 года назад
I totally agree with you, people that are experiencing anxiety do not need to hear that. I fast forwarded that part, I didn’t need an extra issue to be anxious about. Notwithstanding, I appreciate the exercise she taught afterwards.
@nintendy
@nintendy 2 года назад
@@jesusprincess Agreed. I've watched many documentaries about people not being able to sleep for example, and they always list the damage it does to your health - this in itself is going to keep you awake at night by causing you even more anxiety about something you feel you can do nothing about! I mean; you are anxious already, and it’s as if these people are trying to 'frighten’ you into doing what is right, but we have no control over it, and cannot help it...

Oh my goodness! I gazed out the window while listening. I would love to share this video with my son who suffers from anxiety but he is also experiencing very bad health anxiety and I feel that the information shared on the potential effects on health would send him into a spiral. As you clearly want to help people get out of the state of anxiety and worry, I would respectfully suggest that you would edit out the potentially frightening part about the negative implications on health so that those who worry about their health would not be triggered further.

True. Therapy, and the words spoken by therapists and "healers..." 🤮, can create a lot of self doubt and can certainly reinforce the belief that something is wrong and needs to be fixed. As well as the heartbreaking belief that everyone else except you is getting benefit from whatever BS exercise they're teaching.

I really appreciate how Sukie explains bodily responses to anxiety and stress in a more organic way. I'm always interested in learning ways to cope with natural human emotions without them being labeled as a disorder-of course I am not discounting disorders, I believe they are prevalent-but, from my perspective it feels isolating. Thankfully, my parents (who have lived through much trauma by immigrating from a communistic life in Romania) have always ingrained in me that we have the tools we need in ourselves to live happily within ourselves, and I'm glad I stumbled upon Sukie's channel. @@shyaaammeneen63 Most somatic practitioners recommend you learn to listen to and befriend your emotions and pain, and observe where they sit in the body, rather than pasting a positive thought over them or trying to get rid of them. Meditation, however, often helps - particularly when you're aware of the science behind calming the nervous system. I love journaling, Chi Gong, and dancing for expressing, processing, then releasing challenging emotions.
