Thanks for making this. Working up the courage and motivation to do this job while cool weather is still here.

Thanks so much for this video. Truly appreciated! My 2002 has 136k and can’t believe it has the original clutch😮 2 owner vehicle.

Great video. Not sure if anyone clarified why the steel alignment dowels between the aluminum bellhousing and the aluminum block gave you such a hard time but steel and aluminum don't mix well. The steel and aluminium corrode when in contact with each other so you always need to use anti-seize compound any time you put these two metals together. Just like using steel bolts to hold the exhaust manifolds into aluminum heads.

Appreciate that! It was a struggle.

Not sure if you (or anyone else reading this) would know, but I’m curious how similar of a job this would be on an 04 GTO??? Great video by the way! Got a 👍 from me!

I dont think a GTO has a torque are like the Fbodies. So that part would not be applicable. If you have an ls1 GTO and t56 it should be the exact same otherwise. Ls1tech.com is a great site that also has a GTO section that I'm sure has a step by step guide as well.

You removed a 10 mm bolt from slave cylinder area “throw out bearing” What is that for Just curious
@IgniteLight
@IgniteLight 7 месяцев назад
Just retains the throwout bearing. Keeps it from spinning on the shaft and wrapping the hydraulic lines.

Very nice car and video, mine is grinding when i put it in gear. Mostly when i try to shift quickly, any idea why? Thanks in advance
@IgniteLight
@IgniteLight 8 месяцев назад
Check out the "drill mod". Sounds like your pedal isn't moving enough volume for your clutch... resulting in a grind. Somewhat common issue for fbodys.

Hey great video. I’ve got an aftermarket clutch/flywheel combo in my t56 car with a QuickTime bell housing. It’s a serious pain to get into gear, but when I clutch in the rear wheels don’t spin at all when off the ground. Do you think this would still apply?
@IgniteLight
@IgniteLight Год назад
Seems like the master cylinder for the clutch needs a shim. Tick performance has good videos you'll want to watch that walks you through it.

@@IgniteLight Hey thanks for the response. I assume you meant slave cylinder so I went ahead and emailed diamond clutch to see what their specs are. Thanks again.

So since you removed throwout bearing you didnt havr to drain clutch fluid right?
@IgniteLight
@IgniteLight 5 месяцев назад
I installed a new throwout AND off camera a new master with a speed bleeder. I definitely had to bleed the system quite a bit. If you put a new throwout on, you would need to do the same.

Would you know how different the job would be working on a 06 GTO? Also just an average car guy
@IgniteLight

I can only think of no torque arm for you to remove. Otherwise it should be very similar.

A dowel pin was seized the bellhousing and gave me fits. Maybe play the install backwards?!🤣
