You are my savior and reason why my bike is running. Im a carpenter by trade bike mechanic by clifford now. From removing my carbs ,rebuilding, reinstalling, checking timing belts and reassembly. Like as before i let it sit too long it popped over first pop littlr choke.

If you're doing rear wheel work there's no need to remove the saddle bags. In the right bag where the air line comes through you can access the lower bolt that holds the whole bag and trunk assembly on. The same access is inside the left bag. Remove the seat and loosen the upper bag mount bolts, remove the rear muffler mount bolts, remove the rear crash bars and the entire trunk and bag assembly will tip up and give you total access to the rear wheel and shocks. If your bike has a trailer hitch it will have to be removed too. I would replace the lower bag mount bolts (which also are the rear crash bar mount bolts) with allen bolts. It makes reassembly a lot easier.

I made the ABYSMAL mistake of selling my Valkyrie (hope the couple in Portland, TN is having fun (BTW, I can't help but hate them a bit now😣) so, it was off to the used market again to find another one when, out of nowhere, I see a BEAUTIFUL black 50th anniversary edition Goldwing (the story behind this is EPIC and too lengthy to go into here) in a fella's yard. It was cheap. It was/is GLORIOUS. I bought it. I love it. Let's just say, my wife and I got "intentions". One other thing, I just LOVE the good people of Missouri.

Excellent video... and everything. Tragically, a local motorcycle shop did not take the saddlebags off when putting my tire on and installing new brakes. So here's what happened. While I was on I265 South in Louisville during high traffic time, my rear brake caliper came completely off and grinded against the rotor. I had no rear brakes! I took the next exit and found a safe spot to pull off the road and my dad, who's 82, had to go to the farm, pick up his truck and trailer and drive to Louisville to pick up me and the bike. The motorcycle shop knew they messed up and fixed the problem but my confidence in their repair work is utterly shattered. :-( I can send you a video of what happened. And everything.

Hi Clifford. Thanks for all of the awesome videos. I just picked up a 1991 GL1500, and riding it back to the house it seemed to have a tendency to wander pretty easily. Nothing terrible, but not the handling that I expected out of the bike. I will be going over the suspension, but was wondering if you might suggest some trouble areas to start looking first. Maybe shock bushings and such that tend to go on this age bike. Thanks for any help.
