Did the top part of your horn work properly? I just had a wheel replaced and the top part of the horn won’t move. I think that black cable might be in the way. Just it’s been 4 years. Lol

Jase Tyler the wheel/shaft have a shim, it only fits in one position. It has Poka Yoke lol

I really don't know if the steering splines are the same, but you could order a steering wheel and if it doesn't fit, return it

Not really, I dislike the OE head units, but have never had any interest on upgrading it or having steering wheel stereo controls.

Leonardo, the radio switch doesn't work, you would need to change the whole radio to have that function, the Cruise Control works perfectly tho

Leonardo EUA did it work for you? I have a 2016 elevation and I hate my steering wheel just because it doesn't have the radio buttons

shawn veinot it doesn't, you have to replace the whole radio and run a new wire to the wheel.

Would you agree that the job is simplified if I still remove the airbag in order to get those trim pieces around the switch off? It seems like those parts would be pretty restricted by the airbag if it weren't removed.

And do the cruise control buttons light up at night?

Trill Did you disconnect the battery before installing it? Check your airbag fuse in the fusebox to see if it shorted out or you didn't connected firmly

Today I installed a heated leather steering wheel, replacing the plastic/vinyl one. Silverado 2017 WT with 7 inch MyLink radio. No additional buttons function, volume controls on the rear of the wheel, etc; just the original cruise control buttons work. The heated leather steering wheel has an additional two wire connector, my truck's clockcoil did not have the plug that would connect to the extra one on the steering wheel. I believe you have to purchase a new clockcoil mech as well. I believe the to clockcoil spring part is GM 23381964, as it appears to have the additional connecter. (purple and white wire on clockcoil, black and red wires on steering wheel) The larger question is does the heated steering wheel circuit just run off accessory power, so if the new clock coil spring is replaced it's good to go, or does the BCM have to be reprogrammed?

BadAssEngineering - the “fix” to swap instrument clusters and whatnot requires a lot of wiring and surgery, and in my opinion isn’t worth it. My fix was to swap the little harnesses inside the stock wheel and put the blank cover in place of the radio controls, since they don’t work anyway. Then, your cruise lights will light up, you won’t have extra non functioning buttons, and you have leather!

We have a 2018 WT Chevy at work. We want to put on a cruise control on it( yes, I cant believe that they actually have no cruise on any thing!) Have you done the swap yet and did it all work, or did ypu have to have the computer flashed. Can i get the link to the wheel you got? Thanks! Curtis

dennis brrra use a small screw driver like the one in using in the video and use it to push the wire towards the center of the steering (down) and at the same time pull the airbag outwards

No, the wheel can only go in 1 spot on the shaft

the trick is on correctly pushing the clip inwards as you pull the airbag, *its not about brute force*, you just have to unclip it

The cruise control buttons worked flawlessly, but since I don’t have the upgraded stereo, the other buttons just do nothing

then the buttons to control the radio do not work, which is needed for everything to work properly

I researched this a while back. You would have to change the BCM - upgrade the radio & have the dealer program everything. BIG $$$$

I just wanted a leather steering wheel, the cruise control is the only thing I cared for. As Bob said, you would have t change the head unit and such

I literally just did the upgrade yesterday and now my truck seems to be low on battery and sounds like it can burly turn the truck on might just bee the weather here in AZ

i doubt it would have anything to to with the steering harness

If your WT has cruise control, those buttons will work perfectly, but not the ones for the stereo

Im also gonna get a new stereo set up hopefully i think they will work thanks dude

Radio Controls on the steering did not work, but cruise controls remain perfectly operational, i bought the wheel from the dealer

Americo Alaniz I tried this and from what I know your BCM Won't let any of the functions expect your cruse control work. If your truck didn't come with the option for the extra controls it won't work. Even the lights on the wheel won't work.

Did the heated function of the steering wheel work?

My truck doesn't have the additional wire connector for the heated function, I need a different clockcoil spring to get the additional connector. Still not sure if swapping that part will make the heat function.
