Removing Bell Hub2000 and using your own router if you have Bell Fibe internet is very easy.
This is a re-upload of my previous video and for those who already watched this before there is nothing new here, just an edited version of the older video.
Please check this video for router settings, skip to minute 8.14.

Thanks for your videos. One question... I have a Business DSL plan with 50Mbps. Can I just plug my Netgear Nighthawk 7800 router into the WAN port of the Bell HH 2000? I couldn't find a way to setup the Bell 2000 in Bridge mode, thus I'm wondering if it's possible...
@Outdoor_Wanderer

Yes it is. Turn off wifi of bell router and then setup your router as in the video. You can't really bridge bell router.

So from what I understand, I have to get my own media converter and remove the WAN ETH cable from my bell 2000 router and connect it to the converter and then to my new router. What converter would you recommend that I use? I'm just looking for something to get the job done. Also if I made any mistakes summarizing the steps, please let me know.

Bell 2000 comes with media converter if you have Bell Fibe. If you don't have media converter as the one in the video that means you have DSL. This doesn't apply to DSL scenario.

Thanks for making a great video! Wondering if it is possible to remove the sfp module from the media converter and plug it in to a router that has a sfp port? Any chance you can see if the module is removable if you still have the media converter? Thank you!

It is not possible in this setup. On hub 3000 is possible but not in this one.

I just got a router without a built-in modem and i dont seem to have a media converter in my house but I've been using a home hub 2000 for years. Do you know what kind of modem i should be using?
@Outdoor_Wanderer
@Outdoor_Wanderer 2 года назад
Isn't your Bell 2000 coming with an external media converter? Where the optical cable goes in? Like the white think in the video. If not maybe you don't have fibe and you have only DSL?

@@3cheese711 Totally agreed! I called Bell to find a solution to add a firewall router because this Bell hub 2000 has no security features. I spent 3 hours, got transferred five departments. At the end, they either charge me a separate internet account or promote me dedicated IP as a firewall replacement. WTF.. BTW, for those who has telephone service bundled with the internet, there is no way to bypass the bell hub 2000. Otherwise, your telephone service is affected. This is confirmed with Bell after talking three hours.

Hey, have you recently looked at the new media converters from Bell? I think mine has the module internally because where in your there is a casing mine has the fiber going in directly. I’m checking whether there is a way to use a SFP ONT directly into my router. If you want to know I have a Turris Omnia.
@Outdoor_Wanderer
@Outdoor_Wanderer 3 года назад
Same as I described in the video. They install a media converted with Bell hub 2000 that has SFP module inside. No need for extra module. About the routers that supports SFP I don't know. I don't even know if you can take out the SFP from media converter that bell installs

A very informative video, I am also on the same bell 940 Fibe plan but frustrated with the modem as I am only getting 200mbps both way speeds with wired connection and plus it is causing deadzones in my house. Marius, my question here is what router would you recommend to eliminate deadzones and to get atleast 500 mbps wireless speeds ( me and my wife work from home) and would you recommend a mesh system over a regular router modem.

I am using an Asus GT 2900 with Merlin firmware and I am very pleased. Ac 86U has some issues with 5gh band getting bad but has good coverage.

@@Outdoor_Wanderer thank you for the recommendation, I bought a net gear nighthawk ax5400 Wi-Fi router.. But I am having trouble bypassing Bell2000 I have plugged the Ethernet wire coming from the media converter (in my electrical board) to the router directly, but it is not picking up the internet on my netgear router. I am not that tech savvy so please can you help me with it. I do not have my Hub2000 on bridge mode as it just makes the speed more worse

So in a sense you are not using the TP-Link Media Converter anymore as just use the media converter coming with the HH2000.
@Outdoor_Wanderer

Not anymore, I was using it for the 3000 hub. I am only using the media converter, and my own router. Hub2000 is somewhere collecting dust.

I think he comes off as genuine and not in it to be a massive youtube influencer right off the bat. Seems like a good guy, spreading lesser known, but very helpful information. I'm sorry he didn't meet your standards, but to me, this guy is "it". Next time just say thank you and move on with some gratitude for this guy not being as unknowledgable as you or as seemingly worthless.

Sorry Paul, your comment is very insensitive. Also I had zero issues understanding anything he explained, poor audio or accent aside. Your comment reminds me of a glowing report someone I knew submitted to their boss, that ended up saving the company millions of bucks, and the bosses' response was "You misspelled the word "determination".
