This video worked spot on. Thank you. I just did my project yesterday to replace the front Chevy emblem. It took 1.5 hours to remove, replace the emblem and replace the front fascia from start to finish. I also saved $350 by not using the repair shop. My Malibu is a 2013 but it's identical. My other Malibu is a 2015 and it's different.
Thank you! I had been waiting for something like this. The service manual would have you believe that it's necessary to jack the vehicle, remove both front wheels, remove the wheel well inserts, then drop the bumper. A turn of the wheels was all it took to get at the hardware. Replaced the horn on my 2014, which is located just under the driver's side headlight. Shops wanted up to $350 for the job. Did it myself in an hour and $25 for the replacement part. Screws for the bumper are T15 torx under the hood and T10 in the wheel wells. 7mm hex bolts underneath and in the wheel wells. Horn is mounted with a single 13mm nut facing you under the headlight.
Max. I am considering pulling the grill pieces out and painting them on my 2013 when you had bumper off did you notice if they could be removed from the outside ? Or do you need to remove bumper cover? Thanks for any help
Thanks a lot for the video, I was wondering where that shutter even connected t, but you made it easier to locate. I bought a 14' that was wrecked and the person before me replaced it with a 13' bumper but didn't include the shutter. One day my engine light came on because it wasn't there and the Fuel control module was calling for a check engine light, but it was because of the shutter. but I just kept resetting the computer till I could get it fixed, but after about the 20th time of resetting, it just stopped coming on. Car drives fine and no more engine light. But still may need to remove the bumper to remove AC condenser(Also damaged), unless you think I can get it out through the other way??? (removing Radiator???)
This video helped me out a lot I have to replace all those parts you pointed out on my 2015 Chevy Malibu Eco.I am trying to find out what plastic thing is that you pulled back in the wheel well and both left and right sides i believe everything is fine in the actual bumper is good other then the bottom flapping thing you mentioned i am hoping I dont have to replace the whole bumper just be cause of that
Thank you. My teenage daughter bumped into someone at a stop sign. Front bumper is cracked up and It got the radiator. I havent called the insurance yet but I'm probably going to do the work myself.
My 2015 Malibu is also missing those (4) splash shield fasteners. Its making the whole front bumper sag a bit. I can't find the specific part number for the fasteners on a GM parts website. I think they are just a push in style insert.
Thanks for the video. This video helped me out a lot in replacing the front grille. I was wondering how come my 2015 Malibu doesn't come with the front shutter like you have in this video. Do you know anything about it?
I have a 2014 chevy Malibu and the front part I'm always going over it and scraped the flap as I park. excatly what is that part called? also can that part be replaced? if so how much am I looking at? thank you Jessie
Hi I'm not sure if this channel is still active, but I would like to know a list of all the screws(sizes) and push clips that are used in the car's bumper/splash shield.
I have no idea. If you go to an auto parts store they do have packages of clips you can buy by brand, so I would try that. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Hello, sorry, I was out of town. Its called a cordless ratchet, or electric ratchet. Mine is from Milwaukee, they were kind of the first to make them but now there are a bunch of alternatives. Home Depot has a similar Husky brand one that is about $100 total.
Probably a couple hours, maybe up to 4 if you aren't rushing and take breaks for lunch or whatnot. If you have the electric ratchet it will save a lot of time.
Not sure. You might be able to, but the bumper is easy enough to take off that is might save you time and effort to just take the bumper off instead of trying to work around it. Just my 2 cents. I think there are clips that hole the lower grill assembly in and they need to accessed from the back side - if I remember correctly. You might be able to undo them from the front.
If you live in the US, the best bet is to go to car-parts.com, search for the bumper cover and you can find one at a local junk yard. You can look at it before you buy it. I think you might find it for $125-150. If you try and buy online it might run you $100 but another $150 for shipping.
I believe there are clips, but I don't think you can reach them from the front. I think it would be much easier if you take the bumper off. It wasn't to bad. Especially if you have a electric drill to help unscrew all the bolts/screws.
