This was helpful, I am eleven and trying to make some of my hot wheels cart look cooler, so I can give them to my 7 year old cousin who loves these things
You make it look so easy. I like the tip using oil with the tap. I just snapped my 2.56 tap. I'm playing hell trying to replace it. Keep them tips coming, thanks
Great video my friend. Thanks for sharing with us. It's very helpful for those of us who want to get started on customizing. I look forward to your future videos my friend. Happy holidays, take care, God bless you and your loved ones. 👊💯
thanks, planing on painting a hot wheels tiburon to look like my own and hang it in the mirror. mostly because the windows on the toy version are orange. but will probably go for black tec 7 to close it up after the paintjob since i don't own a taper
Super clear tutorial! I still need loads of practice... I have drilled too many times through the body :D BTW is there an easy way to remove the tap if it breaks inside the post?
Thank you Laurent👍🏻 it has happened loads of times to me also. I think I will do a follow up to this on how I remove them soon. If I can't extract them I flat them right down on the grinder and drill it again.... Drilling a drill bit basically 😲
Not particularly, well I don't know to be honest. All are mine as a kid so have more sentimental value, but most are battered from playing with them. I guess after I've finished with them it doesn't matter if they were a rare or valuable one because now there is only one like it at all in the world I suppose. Never really thought about it but great question Many thanks 🚗🚕🚓🏎😁👍
Great video, BUT I'v developed a superior method to this. Long story short all i had a few years back was a Dremel and all the drill bits I had were too big . The little 1960's dremel i had come wit ha large assortment of bits for all sorts of jobs, within it was a 3 piece Mill bit set. A mill bit is used in conjunction wit ha drill to flatten a hole, drills leave a pyramid at the end like this > A mill bit leaves a flat 90-degree surface like this ] . A drill requires a pilot hole, and overside drill to knock the sides of the mushroom head off . Here then lies the problem, the oversided drill also augers out the side of the base , thus when you go back to snap your car back together the base fits like a loose glove which then REQUIRES a new hole to be drilled, a taper and a screw . This is where we knock 90% of potential hobiest out of the game . #1 you need a drill OR a tiny Dremel collet( or a 25$ chuck adapter, YIKES) to fit the tiny screw for the taper bit #2 you need a taper bit, #3 you need screws #4 we all know in drilling the pilot for the taper, we can drill past the hood. With my method all you need is standard Dremel collet size drill bit and a standard dremmel sized mill bit. The drill provides teh large pilot for the mill, once the mill fits in the wedge, you just mill down until you hit a few mm under the base, this leaves a perfect hole and a base that snaps back into place, and if you did it right, a base with zero drill marks. Best of all the drill leaves a tiny indent dead center if you do wish to add screws, but this is optional as your car sticks together EDIT. if you have a drill press, you dont even need a drill, just the mill bit and tada , one step !
Another great tutorial, keep up the good work! Why can't hot wheels or matchbox use a screw from the first place? By the way i got the 50 est 1968 favorites hot wheels series and they are awesome in detail and quality, really wish they can release more like these!
11 years old you must be joking. Good looking out as they say here. That was a great tutorial. You could apply for teaching. Weapons comes to mind first. That is a fantastic workshop I mean really fantastical fantastic. You have motivated me to forge on. I have been mucking up my cars on disassembly and using super glue to reassemble them. Some I remove the paint and polish the metal to resemble aluminum bodies then apply new decals then dip the body in pledge. Anyway no need to prattle on. Be well, thanks again. Oh yeah, I’m 71.😂Dinkum
I just found a matchbox replica of my real life daily driver, but its only available in the wrong color and strange police decal set. So I wanted to repaint but wasnt sure how to strip paint without damaging plastic bits. This and your paint stripping video to the rescue!
thanks for this one Chris. as we talked about, I have a few humbrol covered old models that I really think I could freshen up quite well now. will be hunting down a tap and some bolts :-)
There another way to open them its like u can remove with like a knife or something else i did mine with some curved small scissors by digging around the rivet deep and deep and its getting close to open it another way is with those small things that are to weld from ebay like weld like cables and that just heating around the rivet
@@SidewaysKing75 all right then it better be the nismo livery that is iconic one to do unless you got something much cooler and also are you thinking about doing the R33 le mans too so that it for now see you later bye now.
Great videos. Thank you. I have a 2008 Honda Ridgeline Matchbox that I’d like to remove the sunroof & make the roof solid - without it. Any recommendations? Thank you.
