Keep in mind it is your main source of control of the bike! There is a lot of force and small edges in there. That's why my 690 tube has slop (tough composite). I designed some myself to test, but I won't say what I used... and do not recommend that. I rode in a safe place in the dirt on a low powered bike. Please DO NOT try tape! If some DIY solution came off (very easy) and wedged up inside the housing on a big bike and/or on the street, you might wish you were alive to spend the $31 (with coupon).
John Howerton right now i have two layers of heatshrink on it. Works like a charm but not sure if the material is hard enough. We’ll think of something!
I doubt that is. My solution was much tougher than heat shrink and it was loosening/smooshing after one ride. You do not want it to come off. I would only recommend doing a DIY so you can see how nice it is to not have the play. Stay on the bike stand or a very short off-road ride. Then I would buy the product! I am in NO WAY paid to say that or affiliated with the company outside of I helped them come up with the fitment and KTM knowledge. You do not want a throttle issue at a less than ideal time. Most of the Egas bikes are street models, so I can’t recommend DYI-ing at all.
John Howerton agree. Big responsibility on this part. And any type of soft plastic is too soft indeed. Maybe I will try a metal solution next :) also dont get me wrong. I dont care about 35$. But for what it is. It is too expensive imho.

Haters gonna hate. Part of the reason I’ve never joined any forums. Probably talk all kinds of crap about me there already. Glad you enjoy it! I know I do, especially on my e-KTM. Made of world of difference on that thing because of the way the ECU controls the throttle delivery.

Haha. Me too! It’s my friend’s bike. Was hoping to maybe get a few laps on it today, but he worked his butt off yesterday and decided to rest instead of ride.
Can’t say I noticed it, even on my sloppier 690 tube. Rode that one for hours today and ride it nearly every day. My ebike has been in storage since I broke my ankle 8 months ago, but I did ride it a lot and can’t say I every noticed it either.

Your videos helped me alot figuring out common issues and improvements for the bike. Thanks for the video & solution, John! Personally, I'm happy to hand over my $40 to avoid having some DIY fix rattling around in my throttle control/sensor unit. How much is saving your butt worth when the DIY mod jams your throttle open...? Are the materials worth $40- nope? Is the idea + a safe solution worth it, you bet :)
It is a brake light. If yours isn’t, the brake light switch on your front brake is broken. If you want it to work with the rear brake, then you need to install a switch on the rear brake as well.

I love thinking outside the box. That's what I was doing weeks ago when I was trying to fix a problem nobody had an answer to. I never uploaded the first video. I just cut it down and made the G2 video. The 690 I didn't mind as much, but the ebike I practically had to regrip the throttle because it has more throw before it gets to the power. Figured I could kill two birds with one stone. I swapped throttles back and forth and tested in the ebike in case stuff got hairy. Then I found this guy... we sent a bunch of photos. I measured parts with digital calipers & took photos, he mailed me parts to test out, and I got in 3-4 full test rides the week before I made the video. He even bought a 690 throttle assembly to double check me. But now we have a perfect fit and I feel much better. And you will have a badass 690 soon with no mickey mouse mod one twist away from a 67HP rev limiter 🤣 Check back and ask questions when you get that 690. I love mine.
#1. What bike? This only removes the freeplay in the throttle tube. The slopping movement in the throttle before the throttle tells the engine/motor to create power.
@@JohnHowerton137 i have 690 r an you can twist the throttle before anything happens because of free play in throttle an this is the fix you have showed. That's what I get from what was showed.
Not really. Dirtbikes cost $9k + these days. Thats just the way it is. This thing has basically no maintenance. It's amazing how much petroleum bikes & dime you to death and consume your time while they do.
We'll see what I got today. I recorded some technique but the conditions were kind of crappy. There are no big wheelies. Couldn't operate brakes well enough with soggy gloves and traction was lackluster. Wasn't worth breaking a fender or more. I did some log technique (same principles) and some corner stuff too. No idea if footage came out in the wet yet.
It is way différent than gaz bike, because there is no clutch and the bike has not enough power to make it only with acceleration. But it is possible, and not that hard. Différent technics: Mode 3, 10 15 mph, stand or on the rear of the bike, max acceleration and pull the handlebar Mode 2 or 3, at stop, on the rear of the bike, accelerate et pull the handlebar and you can do slow wheeling Mode 2 or 3, with a very little bump, accelerate and pull the handlebar, you can do wheeling Stoppies is more easy ;-)
Seems all KTMs have this problem, also the sideward play of the Throttle grip is catastrophic. I switched from BMW to KTM and did not know KTM delivers such lousy quality
@@JohnHowerton137 Maybe depends on the country. In Germany and at BMW bikes you can not find any play in the throttle. I think in Austria they are just more slobby :)
Could be. It's for sure not just KTM. I adjust cable bike throttles often. I hate sloppy throttles, so it's nearly every time I ride someone else's bike 🤣 Get the G2 tube in the other video of you still dont like it after the spacer kit.
