A man with wisdom speaks and it pays to do it right the first time to avoid moments of disappointment.

Would love to have seen you working through a piece with these steps, allowing us to see it in practice, and showing an end result.

that's a good idea, I was leaning more towards a talking head opinion piece, but I agree, a "before and after" would have served to hammer home the point. I'm going to do that. thank you for the suggestion!

Beast. Been at this for 20+ years and this is a proven method… look at UV resin too.

I’ve tried the putty/acetone airbrush on a few projects now, I admit I liked how fast breeze through sanding and how nice the surface got, but I love how you put it “you made an expensive primer” 😂 I also switched brushing after to that, and after having to buy a new airbrush 🤦🏻‍♂️. So much easier. I also just started using UV resin for filler. Really liking how well it works, but for sure a whole net of procedures come with it. Definitely not for everybody.

I am trying to make a Batman cowl mold from a 3D print and had someone tell me I could never create a grade A master with a 3D print. It confused me. Why not? You take time to do it right and smooth out the durn surface. Then make your mold and cast. IDK. He is experienced making them, but I think it can be done. Just sand. Sand a lot.

I don’t like saying something can’t be done. And I’m not sure exactly how it would be done, but I know that people have used 3-D prints to make molds for casting in other applications. There’s a guy on RU-vid and I can’t think of the name of his channel, but he does this kind of stuff, and I know that I’ve seen him do 3-D printed molds for casting of smaller items. I’m quite sure it’s scalable.

What are your thoughts on XTC-3D?
@davedawson7833
@davedawson7833 Год назад
XTC is very thick and could be used over large flat surfaces such as the example that was given in the video here However if you use it over your entire print which is called "candy coating" you will lose your hard edge or embedded details.
