I thought it was just me being dense so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this setup is counterintuitive. 😂 Grateful for this video, at any rate.
Fantastic video showing why this monitor should never be bought. Its like the engineers were deliberately pissed off at Samsung, I can't imagine anyone saying ok to this design intentionally.
Good morning, just poured a fresh cup of hot coffee and am sitting down and answering any and all questions from the DIY community. 2:02 you will probably butcher the slat. But that's OK. You only need to pry it apart enough to slide a spludger (or guitar pick / credit card) in the gap and work that to the right until you hear a click. After that you can carefully pry the rest apart using your hands and the spludger. Don't worry if you butcher the first gap, it seems unavoidable. What a fantastic video. I needed to remove the bracket to fit a Herman Miller monitor arm. The Herman Miller bracket was too large so this had to go. I'm so pleased I was able to do it with this expert guidance and the only damage was on that first gap. This video reminds me of what RU-vid used to be. Thanks from London. Right here goes monitor #2. Update: I didn't butcher the plastic on the second one. The secret is to use the correct size screwdriver. If it is just right the plastic will come apart without damage. Too small and it will just damage the plastic. If that does happen it's not a disaster though. Just use the gap created to start prying.
For everyone out there, you don't really need to take out the last part, I removed the base because I bought a monitor stand and the last part can be left alone. It seems like there's no way to screw in the metal part of the monitor stand with the old part in the way, but if you slide the part in an upwards motion you'll have enough space to do it. Also thanks for the tutorial!
I just want to give my two cents on this. While you definitely CAN leave the part and use almost any monitor stand with it on, if you'd like to use any sort of swivel/tilt mount you would lose some of the tilt function because that part gets in the way (learned the hard way).
Excellent video, incredibly stupid design. Had to do this on 2 CF390 Samsungs. The first worked fine. The second now has a 4" band of dead pixels from top to bottom in the right hand side. I've bought a total of 4 Samsung monitors. From now on I'm going with another brand. I can't afford to pay double or triple price for a monitor due to ridiculous design.
@@moiztankiwala Good morning ☕️ you’re not the only one. 😁 We are honored to hear our video helped make your DIY project a cake-walk however the 👍👍 goes to you for conquering your DIY project! 😁👍🧰
Your video was excellent. With your help, I've just completed monitor surgery. It was the scariest thing I've done all year. We have to wait until she wakes up before we can assess how the surgery went but so far everything looks good.
Great to hear & awesome job Elizabeth. We appreciate you sharing this. Welcome to the DIY Raptor Club & us DIY’ers need to stick together. Keep us posted on how your monitor performs after waking up from surgery. Hope all is well. Enjoy your weekend. 😎👍🔧🔩
Thank you soooo much sir! I successfully removed the neck And thankfully the monitor still works without a single damage! Thanks to you for the encouragement!

God bless you. First time having a wall mount for my monitor, and it started to worry me that I didn't see any visible screws from the outside that was holding the stand. Your video really helped!

Please let us know if you have any questions, thanks again.
Hey Carmen, you are welcome and we appreciate you watching. No need to remove the frame, just carefully shift it up in a way where you can gain access to the internal hardware. 😁👍
This is a great video. Thank you. I never would have figured this out on my own. That said, this is a crazy design. Samsung apparently couldn't imagine that someone would want to remove the stand to mount the monitor, either on the wall or on a robot arm? Nuts... Update: Sadly, my monitor (P2350) isn't this design. 😑
The reason I want to take the stand off is to be able to use a VESA mount, but I can see the little plastic part around where the stand used to sit sticks out a bit. Do you know if this would be an issue for VESA mounts that have 75mm as well as 100mm? Very detailed video too thanks.
Good morning & thanks for watching. We haven’t used the VESA mount. We have attached a link to our video showing mounting this exact monitor to wall. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xL8em619BOs.html Hopefully this will be helpful. 😎👍
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I have given the video a watch and it has answered my question. Thank you for doing a great job (and replying to my comment, that doesn't happen often), you earned a sub my man, keep it up.

Thanks for the video, very helpful. Do you know if there is a cover I can purchase because my new mount doesn't cover the holes left from where I removed the stand and I don't want dust getting in. Thanks!
You are very welcome, thanks for watching. Great question, we have talked to viewers that mention they covered the screw holes with black electrical tape. We have not tried that in the past and if you do, we definitely recommend not taping over any areas that are for ventilation. 😎👍
Hello thanks for this demo. It's very helpful. I have Samsung Sa300 monitor and it has been stored facedown for some time. Now when I tried to use it again there were marks in the middle. Do u have any idea How I can remove that?
Thanks for watching, that’s a bummer. We haven’t serviced that exact model however it will likely be pretty similar. It may be as simple as a friendly cleaning. Removing panel and gaining access to the internal parts for cleaning is what we would do. Below is a link to our video showing this on a larger panel (55” tv) however it’s all the same when it comes down to it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--QdPg_jPkGY.html Let’s start there, please keep us posted. @@fahimjafary29 It’s definitely a unique design, some have mentioned theft as a design feature...no one can just walk up & take or swap out the base/stand & walk away with it. Sounds odd but it does happen, we have a friend that works at a library & a few years ago he mentioned that someone randomly stole a monitor base... He said...who would do that...🤔

It is possible to completely remove the back cover to get to the led screen and do repairs there? I was planning to replace my damaged polarizer film there.
It’s almost like why even put the mounting holes on the back for people, when they sought to just leave that big piece on there. Thank you! I just bought one of these with a mount im waiting on. I only half looked into it and just figured it pops off somehow (or a piece to show screws). I can’t believe they designed it this way😑

Hi Michael! I followed the steps to remove the stand, but when I turned my monitor on again, there was a black line in the middle. Does this mean I damaged something inside in the process of removing the stand? Is this something fixable? Please let me know.
Thanks for watching & we appreciate you reaching out to us. Something may be loose inside. A common cause is the ribbon wiring. If everything is properly secured, the internal screen may be damaged.
Seriously, fuck this design, I have a black line too :( Crossing my fingers that it's loose wiring. Edit, looks like I tore into one of the flimsy semi-transparent connectors at the base of the monitor, what a waste of time and money.
Good morning ☕️ we can hopefully help. Below are two video links showing the wall mount we recommend as well as installing it to monitor and mounting monitor on wall. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pV_Gr8_XCMk.htmlsi=LgMwTwytz-nbPGs7 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xL8em619BOs.htmlsi=JSdrmIVKQY9AnjKc 😁👍🧰
In case anyone has a SyncMaster 953BW model and wants to take the stand and base off: My case had a different design on the back. The base disassembled the same way except there is no visible way to release the tilt bracket after taking off the bottom part of the base. No way to get a screwdriver in and the view to the release is blocked. However I noticed a dimple/depression right above the bracket on the back of the case. It is not a screw hole. I pressed into it with a Philips screwdriver while puling the bracket and it slid right out! Could not find any other reference to the method and had just about given up on getting the base off.
Any info for the S22F350FHU model? It doesn't have the same Phillips screw on the back next to the HDMI as tutorials such as yours show. I've tried prying the back off but I'm at a point where it feels like the plastic will snap and it's not closer to being removed
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders it looks near identical, just doesn't have that rear screw! Such a frustrating piece of design, need to remove it to be able to fit the monitors to a monitor arm
@@tomsumner7746 Thanks for the reply. We definitely understand. Most importantly, go slow & be patient...plastic cracking is a tough sound to hear & accept. 😎👍
Thank you so much for this clear, lucid tutorial. It was literally the difference between project sucess and giving up on using my dual monitor stand. Can I just say: what spectacularly poor, lazy design engineering by Samsung! Without your instructions, the VESA standard mounting option is functionally inaccessable to the average consumer. That Samsung expects the average user to actually pry open the monitor case to access those two hidden screws just to fully remove a plastic stand is inexcusable! Perhaps in the future, right-to-repair laws will be expanded to penalize manufacturers for building into their products these kinds of obtuse and unnessesarily challenging obstacles to accessing ordinary features (like alternate mounting options).
Thanks for reaching out to us, we appreciate that. We are happy to hear you accomplished your DIY project, and you are spot on…this design has us all confused and scratching our heads. 🧰
So I did this and now theres a large white strip going down the right middle side of the monitor covering about a 1/8th of the screen, on top of it now has an extremely hazy tint to the screen now. What happened?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. A connection point may have accidentally came loose or disconnected. We recommend carefully opening monitor up & verifying all connections are properly secured. Dust getting in the connection points can also cause this. Keep us posted. Hopefully it’s a simple adjustment as opposed to a damaged screen. 😎👍🔧🔩
This is a great video! But horrible design of the monitor, after completing this, I had many lines of dead pixels. I would recommend not to mess with the case removal but just do the monitor stand removal insteaf
Im struggling to remove the second piece (the part where you press gently on the back of the center of the monitor and tug the piece off.) I’m applying a lot of pressure but it doesn’t seem to do anything at all. What do I do?
