YES! I used to be a kitchen designer for a big box store and I HATE the new style kitchens! I bought buffets, china cabinets on tall skinny legs and oversize dressers and that's what I've used for my kitchen! Everyone just looks at me cross eyed, but I LOVE it! It fits for an old house! I'm SO GLAD to hear someone else say the same thing!

Yes. Thank you for validating my experience with insulation. I have an 1897 brick foursquare home and I’m renovating it right now. Everyone keeps wanting me to build my walls out, insulate the cavity, and add drywall but I keep telling them outside of the the kitchen and bathrooms, I want my brick walls to be covered in plaster so they can breathe. I’ve had so many “professionals” want to throw isolation right against my bricks. It’s just crazy.

Love the tips. Totally agree about old windows! We repaired our c. 100 yr old windows. Best decision and saved us a ton. I also can't stand builders-especially of the TV variety-who gush about open concepts and mid-century modern design, but don't understand what makes for good materials, good design, or stands the test of time. Anyone else notice that The Property Brothers love to replace perfectly good hardwood floors with faddish, expensive fake wood that will quickly go out of style and look dated in a few years? Ugh.

Can you show us some before and after of homes you have done before Louise? I'd love to see. I am right on board with everything you are saying about keeping the old windows and keeping the kitchen true to the time period of the house. I see so many photos of wonderful old homes and inside it is all modern and plain vanilla as though the decorator went to design school at Ikea.

julee reeves I’m not sure if it’s on one of their videos or on Instagram stories or pics but there’s before and afters. They’ve also shown kitchen pictures keeping with the age of the home. They’re fantastic! Just beautiful.

Insulation info is great. Thank you. Mom and Daddy's house (I am starting to work on it in May) was built in the 20s. So I am trying to figure out if your info relates to this house since it is not as old as Louise. :)

Loved this! Thank you for doing these! Question. You talked about HVAC in your last video, have you two had any experience with replacing an old boiler or working with radiator systems? If so I would love to hear more about that!

I’m afraid we haven’t. If we work with someone who does then we’ll get them to chime in.

Seconds in wood? I wonder how to find these places? Here we have Home Depot and Lowes for lumber. Hmmm - How do you find these sources???

Question: Should you ever paint brick on the exterior of a historic home? I see this done quite often on HGTV and it drives me crazy!

No. Never. Not ever. It destroys the brick
