This video shows how to diagnose and repair a Briggs & Stratton generator that has been sitting for a long time, and can't be pulled started, because the engine is locked up.

I sure like that diamond shaped attachment. I have a universal joint type of adaptor for weird angles and sometimes it is too large. So that is what hydraulic jamming looks like. You were very gentle with that fuel hose. It looked like there was another clamp giving you a hard time. I thought this was a customer's generator. I now have a new appreciation for that fuel cut-off valve. Excellent and informative video. Thanks for making it.

Those diamond shaped adapters are available from Snap-On. I've had them since the early 90's when I was a tech at the local German independent shop. I'm guessing by now that other's have them as well. They're available in 1/4" in as well. I use them all the time. Due to the conditions all these machines get used in, and how they're stored, the rubber hoses and whatnot get pretty stuck in place. It typically takes much more effort than what's shown in the video, and for brevity, I edit that out, or do it off camera. 99% of what I'm working on owned by others.

I just replace fuel shut off valve and carb , plus new fuel hose and remove the inside filter and install line fuel filter Just smart to be ahead 😊

ToddM newer Briggs and Stratton have plastic carburetors I don’t know if they’re any good? What do you think of plastic carburetors?

Those carburetors are fine, but like all modern carbs, they get clogged by the chemical failure of corn (ethanol) in fuel, if the machines are left sitting with fuel that isn't treated by "SeaFoam" year round.

I use 91 octane premium unleaded non ethanol gas in all my lawn equipment. Stewart’s have 91 octane premium unleaded non ethanol at the pump
