Main Video Description
Switch the boiler off, and give the system a chance to cool down completely - this is essential before commencing with this task. Suffice to say it’s not best practice to top up with hot water that’s already susceptible to expansion as pressure may drop once the hot water cools down via the filling Loop, As hot-water rises or expands in cooler or colder water as you have in your boiler, cistern or expansion vent pipes.
You have an integral filling loop under the boiler. The blue valve to the left when your facing the boiler is your cold isolation valve. Turn OFF your cold isolation valve and turn ON the filling Loop lever but If you have an external filling loop from the boiler turn both black levers until they are facing the pipe. Once the boiler gets to 1.5 the fault code should disappear and the Boiler should fire. Once the 1.5 target is reached, turn OFF the filling Loop lever on the right when your facing your Boiler and turn ON the cold water isolation valve.
On the external filling loop turn both black levers they they turn horizontally across the copper pipes.
Explanation
Under the boiler on the right-hand side, you will find 2 blue levers. These blue valve levers quarter turn at 90 degrees to allow water to flow into the heating system to help increase the pressure.
If you find the pressure keeps dropping repeatedly at an exponential or quantum leap rate regularly then you may have underlying issues within your main heating system that need looking at by a regulated Gas Safety Registered Engineer.
As we can see here the fault code on the front of the boiler is flashing E118 and E118 on Baxi means low water pressure, so you'd just have a look at your gauge there and you would see that it's below roughly about 0.5 into the red display spectrum, which means that the pressure needs topping up.
We need to have a look underneath the boiler to do this where we have 2 blue valves. . Them black valves at the back we don't touch them, we touch these two blue front ones.
As demonstrated , we turn the first blue valve and subsequently the other blue valve slowly while monitoring the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler, whose pressure increases incrementally and as soon as it gets to the 1 or 1.5 position return the two blue valves to their original positions insitu.
As we have refilled the loop or water pressure the fault code is eradicated and is no longer flashing and the Boiler becomes fully functional and operational again.
Other fault codes that could be experienced on this Boiler but not covered here are
(E 09, E 15 , E 20, E 28, E40, E83, E 109, E110, E128, E125, E130, E133, E135, E154, E 160, E 270, E321, E 384, E 103, E104, E 107) BUT would be shown in subsequent videos

Thanks for this! Single mum at home with 2 small kids. Woke up to freezing house and no water pressure. Wouldn't have been able to afford a gas plumber to come out! And would have been charged mininimum £65 (call out charge plus minimum charge of 15mins labour) for something that took me literally 30 seconds. Super simple fix (although bit worried the pressure dropped so low out of nowhere!) Thanks so much for your video! ❤

Something for viewers to note - not all Baxi Boilers have the two blue valves underneath, some of them are designed with a single lever which is green. You pull this green lever to reintroduce the water pressure and when the indicator reaches the green, you release it (i.e. push it back in place.) This happens within a couple of seconds, at least with ny Granddad's boiler it did. Good luck!

Note some Baxi/Main boilers will have a flexible filling loop - a foibles metal hose - rather than the rigid arrangement with blue valves as shown here. The hose will be a slightly different position but there should also be two levers/taps on the pipework either side and these can be turned in the same way as those in this video to raise the pressure.

Thanks for this helpful video. What does it signify please if this fault presents often? I have a newly installed Baxi 830.
@UtechUreview
@UtechUreview Год назад
Hello J K. The main code fault is low boiler water pressure. If it presents often you might have a radiator leak in so get someone in to check your radiator or boiler system out. Check to see if your radiator is bleeding from the compression nut or union valve where you have your lock shield valve. Your nut should be tightened back if loose., a power flush and radiator bleed might suffice if you have a bleed and a pressurised system and not a conventional system.Also try topping up when your boiler isn’t hot due to expansion of hot water when it is hot as it might descend quickly as your boiler cools down. @@UtechUreview Thanks so much for the helpful reply - I’ve subscribed and shared! Could this code signify an issue with the boiler itself? It’s new and appears to have lost pressure slightly since the flow and return valves were closed 24 hours ago.

@UtechUreview
@UtechUreview Год назад
Hi Anass, If the blue handles can be removed (and I don`t know if they can), then remove and use a small adjustable spanner on the flats underneath. There are some valves which have a Stop, so they only rotate so far, have you tried turning the handle both ways? Try removing the plastic head and turning with an adjustable spanner. Do let me know how you get on. Otherwise, might be some underlying systemic issue with your Boiler. Might be a leak somewhere in the system or a damaged pressure relief valve. You might need to Call out an Engineer to investigate further. Hope you sort it out in the end. Don’t forget to subscribe and share. Helps channel grow

How can one drain water when filled to much . I got the same E1.18. Error
@UtechUreview
@UtechUreview Год назад
Hi Moti Angel, How to fix: You can do this by ‘bleeding’ your radiators. You’ll need to drain some water from the system. To bleed your radiator, you’ll need a radiator key or a tool that is able to comfortably and safely turn the valve on the top corner of your radiator. First locate the radiator valve and then very slowly twist the valve anti-clockwise. You should first hear air escaping before water starts to leak from the valve. Let out a small amount of water from each radiator - checking the pressure after each one. Continue to do so until your pressure gauge is back in the glorious green zone. Other probable causes for this malfunction are Malfunctioning boiler parts Defective components could include the boilers pressure release valve, diverter valve, or filling loop How to check (pressure release valve): The PRV is a simple device to release water when the boiler is over pressurised. It’s a copper pipe usually seen protruding on your outside wall behind the boiler. If this particular pipe is constantly dripping water - then your PRV should be indicative of some other systemic underlying issue, you should call an engineer to check or troubleshoot boiler. If you're getting no hot water from your boiler, this failing part could be the reason why. I hope this helps. Appreciate the feedback. Don’t forget to subscribe and share. Have a good weekend

Hi mohammedbutt7662, To resolve low boiler pressure, you can try topping up the boiler. The process might vary depending on the specific boiler model, but generally, you can follow these steps: 1. Locate the filling loop: It's usually a flexible hose with two valves, one on each end. 2. Close the valves: Make sure both valves on the filling loop are closed. 3. Open the valves: Open the two black valves on the filling loop. These are typically the levers you mentioned w.r.t to video link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EK0FkOKlhWE.htmlsi=eybLnghYW6uy5-NJ 4. Monitor the pressure gauge: Keep an eye on the pressure gauge and wait for it to reach the desired pressure. It's usually between 1 and 1.5 bar. 5. Close the valves: Once the desired pressure is reached, close the two black valves. 6. Check for leaks: Make sure there are no leaks around the filling loop or any other parts of the boiler. 7. Reset the boiler: If necessary, reset the boiler to ensure it's functioning properly. Remember, it's always best to consult the manufacturer's instructions or seek professional help if you're unsure about any steps or if the issue persists. Stay safe! Let me know how you get on. @@mohammedbutt7662 If you're having trouble finding the flexible loop, it's possible that your boiler might have a different setup. The filling loop can vary depending on the boiler model. The topping off valves are typically located at the front of the loop. They are usually accessible and easy to identify. If you're having trouble finding them, it's best to refer to the boiler's manual or contact a professional for guidance. They'll be able to assist you in locating the valves and topping off the boiler correctly. Typically, the filling loop is a flexible hose with two valves at each end. It's usually connected to the boiler's pipework. The valves are often colored, with one being yellow and the other two being black. If you can't find the flexible loop or it looks different, it's best to consult the boiler's manual or contact a professional to get specific instructions for your boiler model. They'll be able to guide you through the process of topping up the boiler correctly and safely. Stay warm!

What happens when it fills to 3?

Hi Sophia, To lower the water pressure on your boiler to the required tolerance levels. you can try one of the following methods: 1. Bleed the radiators: This involves opening the valves on your radiators to release any trapped air, which can help to reduce the pressure in the system. 2. Adjust the pressure relief valve: This valve is typically located on the boiler and can be adjusted to reduce the pressure in the system. 3. Drain some water from the system: You can use a hose to drain some water from the system, which will help to reduce the pressure. However, be sure to consult your boiler manual or gas engineer before attempting this method, as draining too much water can damage the system. Don’t forget to subscribe and share. Cheers.

I have the exact same boiler with exact same low pressure e118 error message. I have followed your instructions and nothing has happened. No noise, no change in water pressure. What now?

Hi Casey, please can you confirm you opened both valves and there was no movement of the gauge or needle? What is your pressure reading at the moment ? Is it below 1 or in the red region?

Got it sorted now, it was a leak coming from one of the radiators
@UtechUreview
@UtechUreview 2 года назад
@@caseyspriggs6934makes sense that you had a leak if you weren’t getting any topping up pressure as could have been frozen pipes, leaks, blocks e.t.c as earlier highlighted in the video, even if you had just had a flush you still would have had topping pressure when topping up. Glad you got there in the end and enjoy the rest of your week

Hi Jahda, could be the maximum temperature threshold on your Boiler has been surpassed and as a result overheating and could be resolved by bleeding air from your radiators and reseting the Boiler. Let me know how you get on

@@jahdalennie9908 Yes you can turn your heating off leaving them in frost protection mode in your thermostat and also your radiator to save on energy and functionality of radiators especially for protracted periods. Hi, i’ve flicked my green switch on my model and it’s making no difference. Generally it works but today it’s not working - any suggestions? Thanks!
@UtechUreview
@UtechUreview Год назад
Hi Lourenz, Might be some underlying systemic issue with your Boiler or system. Might be a leak somewhere in the system I.e radiator leak or a damaged pressure relief valve. You might try to sort out the radiator leak yourself or Call out an Engineer to investigate further. Hope this helps and you sort it out in the end.
