This just saved me. Rear window went down but not up. Have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 QC TRX4. I did everything in the video and it worked perfectly. My 6 y/o daughter with cerebral palsy sits next to that window and its 30 degrees outside. I was out there at 1am trying to figure this out when I found this video. Thank you so much.
@Reo White yes, later on I opened up the wiring harness and discovered two or three wires broken clean in half. I repaired them with solder and tucked them back in the harness. Still working since a few months ago. This is a natural problem with these Dodge's. Just wear and tear from opening and closing the door.
I just want to say thank you for being smart enough to figure this out and kind enough to post it. I’m on vacation and instead of having to go to a shop I went to Lowe’s and followed what you did and was done in under an hr. Thank you sir!
Had to call off and me and the wife have been sharing a car because it’s been pouring down in our area and my window has been stuck down you sir are a life saver.........a 10mm socket wrench works on that door handle as well!
I just had this Happen to my truck today. What you showed in the video worked perfect. Thank you for sharing. It’s always raining or snowing where I live so you truly saved me!
I was forced to go over the Altamont Pass on a very windy night with my rear window stuck down. Oh brother! Then at home safely saw your RU-vid. Smiley me. thanks
Thought I was going to have to call off work. Worked like a charm. I didn't have regular wire so I used what I had to jumper. A guitar string worked. Thanks sir.
Hey just FYI for someone in the same predicament… I took my door panel off, jumped the wires just like in the video but nothing happened. So with the truck running and jumper wires in place, I popped the wiring harness between the doors loose. When I wiggled it the window started rolling up!!! So my problem is definitely in that short wiring harness. So if you try this like the video says and nothing happens, pop that wiring harness shown in the video and give it a wiggle it may just get you out of a bind!! Thanks for the post, huge help, I just wish I would’ve tried that before I bought a $68.00 window motor assembly!!!
THANK YOU!!! Switch crapped out on me when it started snowing!!! 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi and will definitely remember the trick for my 04 cummins!!!!!
Thanks for this video. It was exactly what was needed after my son rolled down the window on the way to the in laws for Christmas. It was 12 degrees out and the plastic wrap "fix" was not going to cut it for long.
Thank you so much ure advice was a life saver it got to 36 degrees 40 degrees me having to take my kids to school in the morning and with my window not working it was hectic thank you
Thank you! Worked on 2018 Ram, also Radio Stations keep getting lost, possible fix, set stations and seat, then save setting to seat memory. Only been 3 days but set radio stations still there.
Thank you for showing what to jumper, got my right rear window up!!! Replaced the door wiring harness and still won't work with the switches. Off to more trouble shooting!
Right On!! Thank you so much. Exactly what I needed to get me out of a jamb. So if you could explain how to go down with the wires, it might help understand the circuitry a bit better. That way I might be able to diagnose where the problem is. Regardless, thank you Sir!
Thanks for the wiring diagram. It worked great and was so much easier with your video. Stay virus free and don’t take the vaccine or coming chip. God Bless you for your time.
PirateStu1 I checked the accordion but no bad wires. It was for a car we just sold today and on the test drive the window wouldn’t roll up and he was driving 2 hours home. I got it rolled up using the wires so I could at least tell the guy that it wasn’t the motor or the switches and was likely a broken wire somewhere.
@@ianholmen888 the copper wire often breaks and leaves the insulation in tact, so it's hard to see the broken wire with the naked eye. You'll probably need a multi-meter.
2 years later and I haven't even fixed it yet! There are some videos out there that show you how to fix the broken wire in the flex cable guard that goes between the frame and the door.
It worked on Rear Passenger, rolled up. Swith only rolls window down but wont roll up still. The driver switches will roll it down but not up, odd? Maybe driver switch?
The same motor is used for both up and down, and the switch just applies power to one side of the motor or the other, to make it go one way or the other. The wire that make the motor turn in the direction that makes the window go up, is broken, and probably in the area that is between the door and the frame. You can take off the wire covering and repair the broken wire if you want your switches to work again.
The driver's door switch didn't work either, mainly because the wire that is in the passenger door is broken, so that's your point of failure. Repair that wire and then both switches will work again.
Sorry, I didn't make a video of the wire repair, mostly because I didn't fix my wires. Also there were other videos that showed you how to fix the wires, but none that showed you how to just get the window back up, for those like me that are lazy and just aren't every going to roll the window down, ever again.
So my 2013 ram 1500 v6 windows stuck down after hang out at beach that rainy night whit my windows open I pull the windows up whit hand pulled and red tape it for hold Now my rear window was not working since today play whit the remote and try some hum’m Front windows passager and driver side working when hum’ roll down but not when try hum’ to roll up 🆙 Any suggestions so far i can go for it myself before it cost me labor
@@PirateStu i will try to watch the video again on the weekend because working all week no time the week end then will sit the truck one place will follow the step from there and try some but i dont want to brake any plastics clip and grip maybe will try it on or let it to the Canadian tire garage 😀 maybe i just cant stand this on my nerve 😄
So I got a new switch but it only lowers the window, won't close it. But if I jumper it out like this I can do both. I'm not understanding why the switch won't close it as well?
