Great video! They got my son's 2015 Kia Soul in Nov '22. They ran from police and wrecked it! I have been putting it back together a little at a time as the insurance company would not pay for the repair. I just got a new ignition lock cylinder and folding key off ebay. Attempted to steal my 2016 optima... just had the recall done 6weeks prior, so they weren't able to take it, but they did bust out my passenger window. Trying to see if I can fix myself w/o costly repair as I've been out of work for almost a year and start new job in a few days. I pray these expletives get what's coming to them. I dunno if you already got it, but could probably go out to a junkyard and grab a window and slap it in pretty easily. The door windows are generally just two bolts once you get the door panel off.
This exact situation just happened to me on Tuesday night/ I have the immobilizer so they were unable to take the car. They busted out back window, and busted the plastic housing around the steering column, so ignition switch is dangling. Do we think the ignition switch will snap back in to place so I can still drive my car?? These bastards make me so mad/ people work so hard for what they have, and for them to think the deserve to do these things are insane!! I appreciate any feed back to help get my car running:)

Im a 51 year old woman whose Hyundai Suv was stolen twice. They also stole my catalytic converters. Your video makes me believe i can fix my own damn ignition. Thanks for posting this. I was able to disconnect the ignition harness so it wouldn’t drain the battery. My vehicle was burglarized last night in an attempt to steal it. But the thief was thwarted by the clutch start of the manual transmission. It’s terrible but it’s kind of humorous and I thought you would enjoy the truth in saying “manual transmissions are now anti-theft devices.”
Man they got me this past weekend I'll be using this video to replace mine... They didn't even get that far, bout 100' and left it for that I'm grateful now I just gotta fix my window and ignition

Great video bro. Kia called me twice to see if I want to sell my car to them. I told them no and two days later my car was broken into but not and attempt to steal the car only to tear up the ignition switch. I had money laying around in the car , new brake pads and new bottles of refrigerant laying in the back seat. Nothing was stole . I fix the broken ignition and a day later Kia called and ask me again to buy my car and I told them no thank you. Two days after fixing the car the same thing happened … broke in my car ,burst window and broke my ignition again!!!! I think they call local Kia owners to see if they still have ownership of the Kia and once they have your address they burglarized the car so that the victim will call the local Kia dealer to have their car fixed by them. It’s an conspiracy!!! Kia is doing this. Investigation is on the way. Also question…to the victims on this post … did the Kia dealership call before or after your car was broken into????? Thank u they just did this to my nephew after 3 days of getting the car thank u for the information u shared so many ppl out here make it seem.like u have to order every piece brand new the way they took my nephew's ignition is a very clean cut so I don't see why he should have to purchase a new one since it's a clean cut it is a clean cut would he have to purchase a new ignition or can he use the same ignition cuz we have a man saying that he has to order all the parts from Kia and then put it all back together they did not mess up the steering column they literally just took the ignition out plugged in a USB cord and took off took off use 9 me and got the car stuck in mud and left it there there was valuables in the car they left everything in their money in the car like $120 inside of a purse they literally just wanted to go on a little joy ride so now we got one person saying he needs to order all the new pieces from Kia and another person saying it's a clean cut and they can pop everything back in so we got two different opinions
You can remove the 12 tumblers from the original key cylinder and transfer over to the new one so your original key works with the new ignition. No need to use the dummy keys.
@@JCUP_4321 On the old cylinder, remove the tumblers one by one and transfer over to the new cylinder. You need to make sure the sequence is exactly the same and you don't lose the springs that are underneath each tumbler. Once you do that, the old key will work on the new replacement cylinder. I used needle nose pliers to remove each tumbler.
@@createcrate1504 I saw a video on it. It's called rekeying a lock. I have did it on house locks many times. You have to take the actual lock cylinder out and swap each of the 12 tumblers from the old cylinder to the new one. A locksmith can do it if uncertain on doing it yourself
The person that tried to steal my car failed and never left the parking lot thankfully but it still sucks to have to replace the ignition switch in my Elantra. Was told mine was the first Elantra hit in the city im in by the detective :v

Great video my man. Currently going through this with my 2017 Forte. I can out a flathead inside the cylinder and it can manipulate the positions but when I go to turn on the vehicle. It just clicks and no start. Battery is good and has me confused. Could there be something that is broken that may not be allowing to start?

Great video man! So I have a 2017 Kia forte and was able to pry out the cylinder lock so I can at least turn the vehicle on now. When I turn the flathead to the on position. All I get is a click and nothing else. I have already put a new battery in and everything. I guess my question is, what could have the Kia Boyz damaged in the steering/ignition Column.

That is the air bag connector. im glad they broke the slot and not the connector wire. So to replace it you have to replace the clocksprings it’s not bad if your good with tools
They tried to steal my 2011 Kia soul a few days ago. 🙄. My ignition was picked apart but I was able to put it back together fortunately. To clarify, the piece you installed, that’s the immobilizer that will help my car not be stolen?

i think kia should make you video mandatory i just got one back from my local dealer that was stolen and wrecked for them to do the column the put the cylinder in the wrong place.
All I need to do is glue mine together the problem that I’m coming across is there’s this little black piece does it go into the ignition switch? I’ve never seen something like that before. I have asked so many people and nobody knows I do believe it goes inside the ignition switch but like I said, I can’t be sure I found it on the floorboard when they try to steal my vehicle, PS they never got it because I have a Killswitch but they didn’t stop them from doing damage or I should say because it was just one person

I am able to re insert the lock cylinder into the assembly as is, when I do the car turns over fine using the original key but does not fire up. Will replacing the ignition switch assembly fix this. It seems like the car should start by turning the tab manually as is . Can you explain why it will not fire up when it turns over fine. ?? Thanks again. Very grateful for this post.

Okay so I got my car back after it being stolen and I seen your video and got the same ignition you have in this video it worked but now my heat/air don’t work did that happen to you does your heat/air work because the guy working on my car said it’s not working because I don’t have the smart key ignition.

Everyone be sure to sign up for the class action lawsuit as the attempted theft covers up to 3700 reimbursement for repairs. My gf Kia soul was targeted and we are doing the ghost key push start to replace the damaged ignition switch and having to purchase rear door window.... I have a forte that gonna do the JDI ghost key on also to save from it being stolen over this mess
