Thank you! Fixed a 23+ year old Dyson in five minutes after watching this. New switch from eSpares after local dealer said they were unobtainable. Gotta love RU-vid for stuff like this. Thanks again!
With the wand removed there is a hole adjacent to the switch so you can easily push the locking tab of the switch cover without having to prise it out and break the tab.
Thanks for sharing! Managed to fix the broken power cable on my DC04 using this video. Just needed to get a couple of spades and crimp them on to the cut back cable.
I use an ordinary flatblade driver wedged down the side between the chassis and button and like twist it which pushes in the tab and levers it out- never broke one this method and I personally think it's easier than using the bent screwdriver / switch removal tool (btw meant to comment his from KylesDyson not my personally but couldn't be bothered to sign out to sign in, find the video etc 😂)
I can see that working! The nice chap from Manchester Vacs sent me the bent driver, so it seems rude not to use it! Maybe he should post up a tutorial of how to do it without breaking the tab! Then Ill learn something!
Well I supose if you got sent it (Im guessing Stuart?) then I guess you should use it! I know if I had one I would, but I wouldn't specifically buy one since the method I use works fine anyway - but as I say - if I was given one then I would.
These switches are all two tag. My DC04 has a ( broken) four tag switch which is unobtainium. I suppose I can just piggyback the existing blues and browns....but thats a pain, I was hoping for a straight swap.
Tom O'brien Should be a ydk (although I might be mistaken, might have a Samsung in, someone who knows about these will be along in a minute, tayyab from tayyabs room knows his motors) but it'll sound different as the plastics and air path are changed don't forget
Most of them should have a YDK motor in, well every one I've ever taken apart in the past did anyway. It may not have a YDK motor in because it could have had a motor replacement in the past by a vacuum refurbisher and an aftermarket £20 motor fitted which is compatible with a Dyson DC07/DC14. I've fitted a few of these 20 quid cheapo motors in the past in order to sell on the machines - you have to or you never make your money back.
