Thank you for mentioning that the spring ring would be challenging to reinstall. It made the frustration bearable. :-) My door had been clicking over and over trying to lock. Sometimes I would get an error code. Once I got the mechanism in my hand, I could feel that it was just sticking. A lubrication issue. After working it up and down a couple of times it was moving smoothly. Now it seems to be working perfectly!
Dave, thank you very much for the Maytag door latch replacement video. I have to take my MHW6000XW apart every 6-12 months to clean out the filter trap and the latch assembly doesn't always go in right the first time. Plus I'm frustrated that there isn't a little door in front so I don't have to spend an hour at it. This time I didn't get the latch right, so I fixed that, but the water still wasn't flowing. There was one connection on the door harness that wasn't connected, and even though I had some trepidation about plugging it in, because it wasn't seating well, because you stated the plugs can only go in one way, I decided it had to be the one and put it in. With a prayer to Jesus I plugged in the cord, turned it on, and appreciatively heard the water flowing into the tub! Thank you for your expertise and encouragement. I went to another video first, but they wanted $4 for a 7 day rental! I watched your 4 minute video once and knew what I had to do. Thank you for the clear and concise instructions. I just replaced my lock and it only took about 15 minute. By the way, to install the ring, I used bicycle tire changing spoon lever tools.
You made this so easy! My machine is 12 years old. But there are no new washers outthere that I want to wait 6 months for. Other than the lock problem, it runs great. It took me about 5 minutes and a headlight to remove the old one and install the new. I would have not figured out that spring thing trick. You can't even see it.

I have a Maxima washer and the front loading door will not latch. It makes contact but will not latch. There are no codes on the screen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Greg
We replaced the door seal on our Maytag 2000 Series washer. The first time we used it after replacing the seal, the door locked and wouldn't unlock at the end of the cycle. My husband turned the washer on, off again and back on, and it unlocked. The next time I used the washer, everything worked fine. By the time I was starting my third load after replacing the seal, I got an error code of E2 F5 which indicates that there is a problem with the door not locking. Any suggestions?
Do you have a video on that washer but with out the spring clip??? Mine is more technically advanced it seems. The rubber is attached to the machine. No clip ...

My Maytag 5000 series washer door locked and would not unlock when the pause button depressed. No code is displayed. Pushing power button only gives a beep.

Unfortunately You're just showing how to replace the lock this unit is locked and even going through the different code button pushing to get it to unlock it is not unlocking so how do you open it manually? Do you have to get to it from underneath when I remove the panel from the bottom where the filter is and cleaned out the filter and still didn't work when I ran through the code to release it again!
Hi I have a Maytag maxima thats about two years old we went to run a load hit the start button and the door locks then nothing no codes it just stits there and the time dose not change anyone have any ideas on this?
