The most thorough video I've seen for replacing fuel lines and grommet. Thank you. And thanks to PilloryOfAutumn for the tip of using a popsicle stick to work grommet in.

Just did this very same thing myself. I found it’s very easy once you have the grommet out to push your lines from the bottom of the grommet up through. The ports on the bottom of the grommet tend to be a little bigger in diameter than where they come out on top. So whether you need to replace the grommet or not pull out the grommet first. That way you can get the hoses in the right ports. I only replaced the vent line to the white vent outside the tank so it was a no brainer. Threading the hose up from the bottom of the gram at the top though is effortless. There’s still enough Clamping power coming up out of the gram but it won’t move on you. It was a snap.

Huge help! Thank you for the video... I wasn't sure how the fuel vent hose went.

I am so glad I came across this video! I am currently about to repair one of these j just bought from a pawn shop today. GT-225 model. Started right up first pull when I was at the store, got home started up again and died about 45 seconds later then I realized that the grommet was busted and the choke toggle switch was broken off. That has to be fixed and now I know how lol.

Nice concise video. For what it's worth, I have found using a thin layer of liquid soap applied with a Q-tip in the grommets holes works well too. I also install the much longer main fuel line in the grommet before I push the grommet into the tank, it just makes it easier for me then trying to fiddle in that tiny space with my large hands.

There are Echo maintenance kits available that include fuel lines , prime bulb, and grommet. The most difficult part of the project is inserting the new 17mm fuel tank grommet. What I did is is use a spoon 🥄 to insert the grommet in the fuel tank. Spraying WD-40 on the grommet help too. It was easier for me to remove the prime bulb to gain access to the carburetor fuel line barb fittings. WD-40 lubricant helped to slide on the fuel lines on the fittings. Don’t forget about replacing spark plug. Echo PAS 225 Powerhead is a fantastic Lawncare tool. Regular maintenance helps to keep this great tool working like new.

Hey brother, by chance do you know the name of the rubber nipple piece? Mine is worn out and has cracks in it and I believe it’s the reason why my weed wacker is losing power so quickly.

It's literally mentioned by part number in the beginning and referenced multiple times throughout. Compression skills are a lacking. Please don't tell us you drive a car.

I don't know if it makes much of a difference, but where he mentions that he mixed up the lines going into the grommet, just to clarify, this is what I have found. The yellow one for the primer is in the correct hole. The 2 black ones are in the wrong hole. The one for the vent should be in the hole where he put the main line, and vice versa. Hope that helps anyone else that was wondering.

What difference does it make what hole you put the lines in

A couple of points, (I've been doing this awhile): There are two phillips head screws that hold on the gas tank itself. Pop the lines off the carburetor, remove those screws, and take the tank over to your workbench where the light is much better and you don't have to squeeze your hands under stuff. The bulk line is a great idea, but you don't really need clear line for the purge (it's not a primer, folks). It's clear so you can see if there's bubbles in it, (bubbles bad). After about five good plunges on the bulb, the line should be purged of air. You don't need to see it, black is fine. Wash the tank out with hot water and dish soap and let dry. Install the lines through the grommet, and use Armorall protectant as a lube. Use a spoon, not a screwdriver to squeeze it in, much easier on the workbench. Install the lines to the carb, and check if they're right by putting a little gas in the tank and running the bulb. If gas comes into the tank through the purge line, you're good, if not, switch them. Then reattach the tank with the two screws. Now get back to work!

By far easier to install the lines before seating the grommet. Working ass backwards man!

I used a Popsicle stick to nudge and coax the grommet into the fuel tank hole.

Watched this after having replaced a carb, grommet and lines on an Echo SRM 225. Your 225 looks a bit different than mine... looks a whole lot newer too. Oh yeah, that 'grommet' thing? What a BEEAAATH! The replacement carb kit which in addition to carb, air filter, gaskets and spark plug, included a grommet with fuel and vent lines preinstalled. For me, that's always been the only time consuming part of the job. With the (careful) assistance of a flat head screw driver along with a nasty word or two, it will finally pop in and seal the tank. I'm guessing that installing the grommet alone without the lines being preinstalled might make that part a little easier but not by much. Regardless, appreciate all the effort you put into your video. It'll undoubtedly help out some DIY'ers.

Start over and take the fuel tank off the motor first. Makes it a lot easier.

I bought one of those generic fuel line kits from Amazon and man, it was almost impossible to get the grommet in there. I had to take the tank off and try to force it a bit at a time. What a bear that was. This was all because of ethanol gas eating up the plastic lines. I only run non-ethanol in all my machines now.

I just bought a fuel line kit from amazon for my echo leaf blower.Everything went fine except I cant get the grommet in.Im trying to install it with all the fuel lines in.Maybe I should pull all the lines out of the grommet first.I looked at it closely and its seems the hole in the fuel tank is too small.Im going to grind the tank out a little at a time and make it fit.I have an older echo leaf blower and I think the hole in tanks were smaller then. Its a PB200 model.

The Grommet I bought with the fuel line could not fit in to the tank opening and I tired this your way of pushing it in but yet it is difficult. What can you suggest to help me. Hope to hear from you.

I'm having the same problem. I absolutely cannot get the grommet in the guest tank on an Echo SRM 210. I've used two cycle oil to help Lube The Grommet but that still didn't work. Hopefully somebody will answer you so I can check it out. Good luck

Great help (I think). I was looking for proper order of the 3 hoses from the tank to carb and vent. Echo "You Can" instructions don't say, nor could I find any carb instructions which said. I've replaced the carb twice, but forgotten. I started trying to replacing the fuel lines last year and forgotten. Porous brains is why we have RU-vid. Watch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1-1XSk7n1Q0.html (4:20) Text overlaid at 4:42 is great. It corrects the vid and says two of the tubes were identified as being in wrong holes. But which two? Nothing like saying you made a mistake but not giving a clear and complete correction.

It's a lot easier to just push the grommet into the gas tank not try to pull it out

Why not put the lines through the grommet BEFORE you put the grommet in. Jeez, somebody has been sniffing too much exhaust.

Dude I kid you not Tonight I had to do the carb replacement project on my 225 echo trimmer... and I did it his method and it was amiss... I had re take fuel tank off... and put in the grommet first than the lines with the tank off... He pissed me off man killed me like 25 mina trying to stick the lines in the grommet when tank already attached... Since I did like his twist by cutting the tips of lines at angle but my fuel line I didnt have that ring at the end so I didnt wanna cut the end in any way I just wanted to keep it how it was and that's what funked me up, I already had vent and prime line in and the fuel line I had to back track a few steps I dk... I just did it my own way but jeez in this video when it was fuel line insertion time...hes like I'll have to get back with you... cuz it prolly took him 12 hrs to fit that line i the grommet it's such an awkward small space... fuckin a I'm even pissed now talkin about it lol ...sniffing EXHAUST ur comment tho hahahaha
