Tools and materials you'll need to tackle this job:
⁃ Small Bucket To Catch Any Water
⁃ Flashlight
⁃ Flat Head Screwdriver
⁃ 5/16 Nut Driver
⁃ Garbage Disposal Removal Tool
⁃ Replacement Disposal (I recommend staying brand loyal for fit)
⁃ Optional Power Cord (Some models do not come with a power cord) Double Check Your Replacement Includes One.

The first thing you are gonna do is unplug the old one or flip the breaker off if it’s hardwired. :)

Now you know why plumbers get surly. Doing yoga with a disposer wedged under the sink ain't fun. There are ways to prop up the disposer from the cabinet bottom, such as an automotive scissors jack or supporting the disposer from the top of the sink, such as with a pistol grip clamp or an improvised windlass which leave you with two hands to get the disposer coupled to the mounting flange.
